Desoxyn availability/use...

My doctor recently said that desoxyn isn't being produced in the US anymore, and it is schedule 1, but I know of someone still recieving it for ADHD (supposedly).
Is it still being produced stateside/anywhere? And what do they actually still perscribe it for. I'd assume that dexedrine/adderall had sorta solved the need for actual methamphetamine in medical use.
 
Well, why does it matter if it is produced in the U.S.? I don't think valium is, is it? Valium is still abundant in the U.S., even though it is a French product.
Anyhow, Methamphetamine, including desoxyn, is still schedual II, and is it still used to treat ADD/ADHD.
 
Desoxyn is certinly still being made in the US... methamphetamine is a C-II drug but it;s not fully illegal..
Could there be plans to remove it? It's unlikely because of how many patients are on it for legit reasons ..
Do you have any refences?
 
did you ask your doctor for desoxyn?
thats prolly the worst thing to ask your doc for....
 
Asking for Desoxyn by name? Man, if you did that you DO NOT DESERVE TO HAVE DESOXYN OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF PHARMACUTICAL SPEED! ..
Read the Guide to faking ADHD and take some tips from there... still, Desoxyn is NOT a widely prescribed drug..
 
I happened to find a real "easy" doctor, the kind where i go in for 5-10 mins, he has his script pad in hand with pen, "what can i help you with?" I first started on Concerta (first appt., didnt want to push it), told him thats too expensive, i'd like to try generic ritalin, so i got 66 20mg's a month, then my last appt., i just told him, "well i've been reading up on Adderal, and i know there's a generic available, and i dont like the ritalin", he didnt even know there was generic adderal, and he wasn't even sure of the proper dosages (he got on his computer and looked it up), so now i have 66 10mg Adderal's a month, he wrote it with no problem, i was never in his room for more than 10 minutes max, he just asked me what i wanted pretty much. I'm definitely NOT going to ask for desoxyn, but i will push for a higher dose of adderall next appt., i'll ask for 20mg twice a day, i dont think he will hesitate to get out the pad and write me a script, like always.
Wierd he seems to trust me, when i tell him i "research on the internet", and tell him what i want and he gives it to me. I wont push it with desoxyn though...Adderal is fine with me.
Off the topic kinda.. but PhreeX or anyone else do you know if generic dextro-amphetamine would be cheaper than generic Adderal? I know if i told him, could you instead give me 33 20mg Adderal's, and i can split them up, because the price will be almost half? But as he was rushing to write the script i didnt bring it up. Next appt. i'll just ask for 20mg/twice a day. "its..just too weak, i think the dose needs to be increased doc" :)
 
What your doctor is probably thinking about is a press release Abbott made a few years ago. They quit manufacturing the Desoxyn Gradumets (5, 10, 15mg extended release) because of "manufacturing difficulties".
I think many of the patients that had been taking it found out when the pharmacy told them it wasn't available for order anymore. Most doctors probably didn't even know about it at the time (or even still) since it is rarely prescribed anymore. It wasn't such a popular prescription that Abbott sent newsletters to every doctor in the US or anything like that.
But they have always made the 5mg Instant Release Desoxyn. And they still make them. Regardless, its not a widely known drug, most doctors would have to get out the PDR to write a script. Plus, 5mg tablets aren't very flexible dose wise, you might would have to take 3-5 of them a day for ADHD (poor you).
 
IMO Desoxyn is shit... c'mon, the shit doesn't even burn when you snort it??? BUT, I've never had the opportunity to eat 20 pills at a time, it'd prolly be cool in that quantity (btw, only had 5mg tabs)
 
I didn't ASK my doctor for dexoxyn. I did get bumped to ritalin 20mg's but thats just to test it. I think I've worked a script of 60 5mg tablets and 30 10mg TR caps per month. I'm not that friggin' stupid. My therapist and I have a really really REALLY good working relationship, and other than say klonopin or desoxyn, if I ask for it she'll take my word for it. I've been seeing the Doc since my freshamn year of highschool and at 200/hour she better give me my friggin' crank in a pill. ;)
But I assume thats what she meant about desoxyn production. I'll clear it up either way on my next appointment. She'd said "I don't think you'd need anything that strong. Unless you're one of those persons whos metabolism eats up stimulants.", but I'm sure it can be made to seem that way.
 
If you got a croaker then just go for it - say that you have done your research and feel that a lower dose of Desoxyn (I wouldn't refer to it as "methamphetamine") might be better then moving to a higher dose of Adderall/Ritalin - sounds like you got a doctor that isn't too concerned about having you on amphetamines so go for it...
