dude imo saying "chlormethiazole is more euphoric than barbital" is like saying "diphenoxylate is more euphoric than morphine" :D

Each to their own, I just found it personally preferable, which isn't to say I didn't love the barb, I did, too much, the 30g I got ended up as a couple of teaspoons all too quickly.
People do have differing pharmacological peculiarities, I can't drink caffeine for instance, one cup in the morning and I won't sleep the following night![]()
Oh, and diphenoxylate sucked ass big time.

I don't know that it isn't. Never had it without atropine.

^^ you dont miss that much dude

I had it once, as I got given a whole load of tablets somebody didn't want, they just took the edge off my waking up scattered and grumpy in the morning, not much more, one the atropine had been removed.

yeah its definitely more enjoyable than loperamide

Hmm, I thought diphenoxylate was actually quite enjoyable... each to their own!
you kiddin? lol

Nah... it was very much CNS active. Haha. Maybe i'm just lucky :D
I mean it wasn't as good as say, hydrocodone or w/e, but had a very enjoyable body buzz for ~10 hours, and induced a dream-like state for that same length of time where I had semi-concious lucid dreams. Only complaints I have is 1) it gave me the most terrible constipation for the week after (lol, as expected really
) and 2) it was very thought-scattering. Not a hope of actually functioning properly whilst udner the influence.

I'l bet there was a sizeable proportion of the atropine left in then, that sounds very much like the anti-cognitive effects of sub-deliriant doses of atropine.

maybe your sensitive to opioids? cuz its very weak
i cant imagine i could get any opioid dreams from diphenoxylate. imo it only works when mixing with other opiates:D

Well, i've had atropine by itself before, and this was very unlike that. Yes the atropine was still in it though.
And yeah i'm a bit more sensitive to opioids than the norm but not *really* sensitive. Shrug, i'll just consider myself fortunate.

dammit indeed your lucky

I'm fairly sensitive to them, not supersensitive though, I know a girl who pops a whitey from 15mg dihydrocodeine, but I love my opiates.
Codeine gives me a good gouch if I take a little scopolamine or promethazine with it and a bong or two, but all I got off 30+ tabs of lomotil, after removing the atropine was a little relaxation and easing of the frazzled head I had at the time from not sleeping enough.

Ah, is brallobarbital not explicitly scheduled? Odd. I assume it would fall into the barbiturate catch-all, but I don't believe that's ever been done for any marketed drug.

Non-Barbiturate downers that are like Barbiturates were and are more popular than Barbs themselves ever were.
Doriden (Glutethimide), Miltown (Meprobamate) and Qualuude (Methaqualone) are arguably more euphoric and pleasent than most Barbiturates; and were just as if not more popular in thew '50s-'80s.
Today, Methyl-Methaqualone is making the rounds on the RC market. Soma (Carisoprodol --*Meprobamate in disguise*-- ) is one of the most popular RX drugs used recreationally.
I've explored in other forums the possibility of a back to basics homemade Barbiturate experiement: making Barbs from scratch using chemicals and means that were available to Bayer at the turn of the century. Barbital (aka Veronal aka Barbitone), the first Barbiturate, is probably the easiest drug next to Chlorobutanol or even Bromal/Chloral Hydrate to make at home.

Here is a designer euphoriant, elating and antidepressant, non-sedating barbiturate. I wish it would be more potent and it could be made more conveniently. I'd sure like to try some of this stuff.
Now thats more like it, an actual designer barbiturate, 5-phenyl-5-(2'-piperidylmethyl)barbituric acid.
Disclosed in US patent 3806596, and the synthesis is fairly straighforward, although I think it would be viewed as an analogue, if I remember rightly the law covers "any 5,5-disubstituted derivative of barbituric acid" which is a rather broad scope.
It would have (R) and (S) isomers yes? The 2-position on the piperidine ring looks like a stereogenic centre, so there should be two enantiomers and if you made the pure active isomer it may be more potent, although still in the hundreds of milligrams.
