Okay so i have depression that come and go, sometimes they last, sometimes they don't, but this now is changing my appetite and i feel kinda grossed out when i think about eating breakfast, i'm hungry but i just feel grossed out.

Could it be because i've eaten sandwiches for breakfast for such a long time or what?
'Cause i'm thinking that might be why i feel grossed out.
So, does anyone here have any advice on how to go about this?

gonna try and smoke a little weed, that should help me a bit, well i'm not gronna TRY to smoke weed but i mean i'm gonna give it a try

When was the last time you ate a salad? I mean something full and nutritious, with kale, romaine, broccoli, spinach, carrots, sprouts, beets, etc.?

A backed up liver is a major reason for poor appetite, and it's a common experience following drug use. Your liver has to process drugs and any of the additives that there might be in processed food, and if you are not ingesting enough greens regularly then your liver will lack the co-factors for filtering out toxins. Spring time is the best time to cleanse the liver and provide it with chlorophyl-rich food. In the winter time humans eat a lot of meat and carbs, whereas fresh local greens are more scarce. Animals that hibernate also have domant digestion during the winter. In the spring, all of the fresh plants that are growing wild, like dandelion, nettle, the dock family, chickweed, etc. are all plants that purge the liver system.

Include vinegars as well, especially apple cider vinegar, in your salad dressings. Give it a try and eat one substantial salad a day. I bet your appetite will improve, among other things. If you can munch on some fresh veggies first thing in the morning, and take a teaspoon of good quality brewed vinegar (like the ACV mentioned before), I think you will see positive changes.

Dirtyven, firstly, I'm sorry to hear you're having a bit of a rough time at the moment. I've suffered on and off with depression since I was about 10 years old, so I know how hard it can be. What I would actually suggest first and foremost is that you DO NOT smoke any pot. Marijuana can be known to exacerbate depression. Not in everyone, but it does in some people. Perhaps this might have something to do with your depression getting worse? Do you think there is anything to that?

Secondly, in terms of actually eating, try to eat something that is light, tasty, healthy and packed with vitamins and minerals. That way you don't have to deal with the daunting task of choking down a dry yucky sandwich when you don't even feel hungry :D
Smoothies can be an excellent source of nutrition when you don't really feel like eating. Do you have a blender with which you can make some smoothies? They're great because you can put whatever you like in there, just blend it up with some milk, yoghurt, and maybe a bit of ice to thicken it out, and just sip on it as you please. You can put in bananas, strawberries, blueberries, melon, kiwifruit, anything you like. Do you think this sounds like something you would try?

Alternatively you can just try to eat some yoghurt with some cut-up fruit. Make it tasty and easy to eat, and breakfast won't seem like such a daunting and unachievable prospect.

Lastly, have you ever gotten any professional help for your depression? Do any of your friends and family members know about your depression? I think you would benefit from reaching out and talking to someone about what you're going through, whether it is a close friend or loved one, a doctor, or even someone on this website. Help is always there if you seek it.

Take care, and let us know how you're doing okay? <3

nah i think it was because i was stressed out when i woke up and i just didn't have an appetite, it's better now

Glad to hear that you have sorted out your appetite woes. When things mess with our basic bodily functions which we so often take for granted it can be quite frustrating and even scary.

I have wrestled with with an uncooperative stomach for a number of years now. I am quite incapable of eating anything solid for at least 2 or 3 hours after waking up. In fact, the smell of cooking food. especially fried food, has been known to cause me to throw up if I have just awoken. Recently though I've had worse symptoms much later on in the day or evening when I am physically hungry but have no appetite. My stomach could be rumbling louder than the engines of an F16, a plate overflowing with delicious chicken, crisp vegetables, prime steak, succulent roast potatoes or even tasty pasta and the very thought of putting it into my mouth disgusts me.

I found that for breakfast a protein supplement, the kind that comes in a powder form which you mix into milk, was the only thing I could swallow. And on the odd occasion when I lose my appetite later on a smoothie goes down a treat! So liquidised foods are definitely the way to go ... for me at least.

In short: listen to n3ophy7e, she is one smart lady. ;)

^It most certainly is! :)

What I do when I'm not hungry is eat something basic, like whole grain bread and some olive oil to dip it in, and while the bread is in my mouth, drink water to get it wet. This makes it much easier and faster to chew when you really don't want to/can't eat. I think of food as medications sometimes, so when I feel like "bleh" and really don't want to eat, I force myself to since I know I always feel way better after a meal.

I usually eat every four hours, so I don't even get hungry anymore, I just use the clock to eat my meals.
