There has only been one other thread on demoxepam on BL (or any such groups, AFAICT): http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/608423
It got far enough to include a couple links to journal abstracts, one of which suggested a therapeutic dosage of 20mg (given to experimental subjects) before being derailed about why brits like the "c" word so much. 20mg... Advice taken...

I'm surprised not to see more discussing of demoxepam from those who've taken it, since it's been around, and now is available (it's an active metabolite of several multiple mass-produced benzos, most notably librium/chlordiazepoxide; possibly diazepam & others, as I recollect).

I would say that demoxepam taken at reasonably low, unknown dosages 10 - 60 mg, perhaps, does have "light" but characteristically benzodiazepine like subjective effects. (If genuine, it should taste markedly bitter, like Tylenol.)

Not as pleasant as lorazepam, clonazepam, or alprazolam at therapeutic dosages, IME. Nor as oppressive as therapeutic dosages of phenazepam (1-10mg, I would say, depending on level of benzo tolerance, for experienced benzo users interested in being functional).

I'm very interested to hear what people think (and feel) about it, from the people who have felt it for themselves. Please share if you want. Does that dosage sound correct?? It makes sense, as it's in the ballpark for the "parent" drugs librium and valium... But that's probably not the best way to estimate dosages of straight metabolites, from a harm reduction perspective. Better to share what's collectively known, felt, experience, eh?

If you're being earnest and trying to help, then thank you, and forgive me for saying...
Gee, I didn't think to look in wiki first, before starting to look anywhere else... Oh, wait, yes I did.
And there was hardly jack spit on demox. I guess it's a good thing to have the wiki link, even if it mentions demox exactly zero times (except in a list of benzos). I'm hoping to maybe hear something more about demoxepam than that it's IUPAC name is 7-Chloro-1,3-dihydro-5-phenyl-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one-4-oxide and that, as I said above, it's a librium metabolite. At least you bumped the post and gave me a reason to do the same, so thanks for that.

Perhaps one side effect is uncharacteristic irritability. Don't take it personally, please, boombz

Just to reiterate, for the sake of harm reduction, does anyone have their own experience or knowledge beyond "wiki's yer friend," that they'd be willing to contribute? It's a topic that will be of more interest soon, as more BLer's and their friends are going to be coming across this stuff, and deserves a slight amount of attention, IMO, at least among those inclined to find themselves in possession of or proximity to it.

Knowing, harm reduction, and your friends are your friends.

This is a "weak" benzodiazepine as things go and should be relatively soft on dosing (i.e. harder to pull a phenazepam fuckup), the closest drug in regular prescribing usage is nordazepam.

Sounds good. The 1/2-life stuff would definitely support the premise that you won't have long-term blackouts (rather, duration of action would) and, if, as you say, and as I've experienced, the feeling is rather weak, then it seems a good alternative for a relatively less-harmful benzo (when you can't get scripted something truly legit and safe). Seems to me barely noticeable at the modest doses attempted, but subtly effective for anxiety control. No firsthand experience with nordazepam, but I will look it up now. Thanks!!

Another comparable drug is oxazepam, demoxazepam is essentially isomeric to oxazepam. (oxygen molecule jumps one atom over)

Thanks! Another nice lead...last one helped! Oxaze I know a little more about, it seeming to be a fairly commonly used chem in the US, at least for research purposes, a bit less so for treatment I would think... Looking, looking, thx sekio!!
