Dehydrating mushrooms

I recently came across some fresh, field-picked mushrooms. But my work schedule has gotten in the way of me setting off on another psychedelic adventure. The question here is, if I use a dehydrator (just a small household dehydrator) will it smell? I live with roommates that will have me kicked out of the apartment at the drop of a dime, if that's the correct use of the phrase. It's not a lot of mushrooms, but it's enough. I've never dehydrated them myself.
They've already been sitting for a day and a half, and I'd hate to see them go to waste. I have them under a fan for now to get as much moisture out as possible, which already smells like earthy goodness. But I won't be able to use them for another few days to a week.
I cannot use the fridge to keep them. Is there a better way to keep them from molding or rotting? Or should I be able to dehydrate them without stinking up the apartment?

Well, one thing you could do is drop them into a jar of honey. It's pretty common practice were I live.

Besides from that, you don't need a fan and all kinds of equipment. Just spread them out evenly on an old new paper, and let them lie in a dark, dry corner of your house.

I dry my (homegrown) mushrooms in the oven on 50°C. I don't notice a loss of potency.

I grow my own mushrooms. And dry them using a home food dehydrator set to 95F. They dry for 24 hours (give or take). I might rotate the trays every 6 hours or so and/or flip some bigger mushrooms.

Zero smell. None. To catch *any* odor, I have to stick my nose ~ 1 inch from the vents.

You're okay to dry unless your roommates object to the actual existence/operation of the dehydrator.

We dry our home grown mushrooms in an average sized home food dehydrator @ 30deg Celsius. Gets them VERY crispy dry if you leave them long enough, making it very easy to crush them up if that's how you like to take them. Absolutely no loss of potency at that temperature either.

Thanks for the prompt replies! I will start them shortly.
As for the doubts about the types of mushrooms, said field has been used for the same purpose for years. I just picked them not knowing I wouldn't be able to eat them fresh.

Sounds good brotha! I was just worried about your safety, sounds like you got everything under control! Happy trails!
