Definitive Answer on Alprazalom/Benzo interactions with psilocybin/shrooms

Like I stated in the subject, I have searched the forums and found conflicting and mostly anecdotal responses concerning what, exactly, if any, interaction there is between benzodiazapenes, alprazolam/xanax in particular with shrooms and/or psilocybin. Can anyone give me a definitive answer on this question?

Xanax will dull the trip in a lot of ways. Makes it not really enjoyable.

Completely opposite for me. It's been twice that I take 1 or 2mg of Xanax...waiting 3 or 4 hours and dosing 2-3 grams of shrooms. And both times the benzo's helped with the onset nausea and gave the trip a paticularly positive vibe.

Maybe higher doses of Xanax hurt the expierence due to memory loss and grogginess but in low doses it has helped on 2/2 times i did it with shrooms (both were great trips at relatively small doses, 2.5 grams) and once with LSD, it was really positive as well. Ego-death positive.

Maybe I'm just overly anxious to be begin with and Xanax helps.

When I've taken xanax AFTER a shroom/LSD trip, it just puts me to sleep.

The one time I have taken alprazolam while on shrooms it gave me crazy ass visuals, really intense. However I had always heard that it was supposed to dull/end the trip

i'm not sure precisely what you mean by definitive... most of the info here is going to be anecdotal by the nature of the forum. And i'm pretty sure there haven't been any major university studies on taking xanax whilst tripping on shrooms Anyway IME depending on dosage, timing, & the individual it generally dulls the trip or removes "bad trip" anxiety if taken beforehand, like stated earlier towards the end or after it makes it easier to go to sleep. Yes it depends on the dose, people who say it doesn't dull the trip necessarily seem to be taking a light enough dose not to do that but still get reduced anxiety. If you do take more than that, expect to get blunted effects or even memory loss (been there).

This might be a bad analogy, but IME, shrooms with benzos look and feel more like MDA, while shrooms alone look and feel kinda like low doses of DMT. Dunno if that makes sense, but you can still trip pretty hard even with benzos though, just less intense.
