How did dubstep start you say? Let's take it back a little over a decade ago... Dubstep originated from a few genres such as 2-step, garage, and dub... When you take a track like this Groove Chronicles - Stone Cold and throw in some influences/drum samples from something, say like this Eardrum - Roach or Urban Shakedown - Some Justice you get something like this, Mala - Lean Forward. The main point was the emphasize on the sub-bass. As it progressed through the years, other artists started adding more of an influence to it (adding the low frequency "wubs" for example)... Loefah- Disko Rekah. That's pretty much a quick sum up of the roots. Now we have unofficial sub-genres of dubstep like swamp, Kromestar & Dark Tantrums - Circles / [url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM15rCGogVc"
]Kromestar - Monster Dub[/url] which IMO I call the "brostep" that still has influence from the roots of dubstep. Just some info for the people of BL ;)

Anyone else want to add to it, be my guest. Just make sure you know your facts... 8)

Woah woah, Kromestar isnt all brostep, and I wouldnt even classify Kromestar as brostep. Skrillex is brostep. Bassnectar has now turned into Brostep. Datsik, Excision, ummm idk what the kids are listening to these days, but thats all brostep. Kromestar still has some good stuff going on, especially with his releases under Om Units label.

I never said it was bad. I was just making an example, trying to describe swamp to people who never heard of it. Like I said, you can say the "brostep" that stuck to the roots of dubstep, which is the important thing. ;)

But I entirely agree with you on the brostep part. I think artists like Excision, Datsik, and Skrillex ruined the reputation of a good genre. I'm even embarrassed sometimes to say I listen to dubstep because people will right away think of someone like Skrillex or Excision.

Fucking Circlez drove me insane listening to on repeat a-PVP.

OoooooOOOOoOOoOOOOOOOOOOooOOOooooOOoOoOO
