Dealers vs Pushers

Dealers are usually geeks and idiots. A pusher is someone who at least understands supply and demand curves, Keynesian economics, flow of commerce, and is usually a proponent of free enterprise. So I would say pushers are better people than your average lousy, unreliable dealer.

A pusher is a dealer, but a dealer isn't necessarily a pusher.

Agreed...I believe a pusher simply doesn't give a rat's ass about what they are doing and who they are doing it to. I'm thinking the pusher is the type to bug the shit out of you when he knows you've been off H/crack/whatever for some time...hence PUSH-er...

There are more than a few definitions however for pusher, this is just how I see them. From the highest levels to the lowest, the term DEALER fits for all, it's just a question of WHO they are dealing to...

I hate to base information on lyrics from rap songs, but the song "grindin" by pharell ft Pusha T openly talks about being a pusher....
It seems inconsistent:
[Pusha T]
From ghetto to ghetto, to backyard to yard
I sell it whip on whip, it's off the hard
I'm the...neighborhood pusha
Call me subwoofer, 'cause I pump "base" like that.

[Pusha T overlapping Malice's last line]
I move caine like a criple
Balance niggas through the hood
Kids call me Mr. Sniffles
Other hand on my nickel--
Plated whistle, one eye closed I'll hit you
As if I was Slick Rick my aim is still an issue
Lose your soul in... whichever palm I'm holdin'
One'll leave you frozen, the other, noddin' and dozin'
I'm grindin' Jack

A dealer, by definition, is somebody who deals drugs. Doesn't matter the drug or the scale. A dealer could be some highschool kid selling weed to his mates, or the head of a large international drug syndicate.

I definitly agree that a low level dealer is more likey to be a pusher than someone who been in the game for a while. I dont know of anyone who has just walked in, and started with a massive cliental, a respectable reputation and instantly had all these connotations been annoted to dealers being discussed here.

But when you think about it, Being a drug dealer is a job, and at most jobs you always start off as a nobody and have to work your way up. In an office job, you start as the "Paper Pusher" (Mind my pun) and have to work your way up over the years to a respectable and more profitable position. I think the same evolution is nessacary in the career path of the drug dealer. What you think?

Well.....Yes and no.

In truth, nobody gets to the top by climbing the corporate ladder. Its a sham. Its a carrot and stick. Most people who start off in the mail room will never make it to CEO. Most people who work and work and work to be department manager will never become a partial owner of the company. They will just slave and slave away, maybe get some perks, but they will always be an expendable peon as far as the owners are concerned...unless they do something extraordinary like invent something awesome that makes them a valuable and irreplaceable commodity.

I think that some people are born with a silver spoon and walk right into higher paying positions....maybe they are a son of an executive who sits on the boards for many corporations......the same few thousand people often sit at the boards of multiple corporations, and manipulate the markets, dumping their toxic assets off on one corporations before they allow it to sink while scheming to dishonestly increase their shareholdings for another company that got all the benefits....and they never have to take direct responsibility as they piss peoples pensions away.....anyway, thats not really the point.

I think some people start off as suppliers and some people just remain hired help...maybe the OG crew will get some perks and eventually oversee other sellers.

It does take time to get a reputation and a client base though.

I didnt read the rest of the thread, I dont really care, but I like the bejeezus out of you already since you just mentioned some Econ 101 in a thread about drug dealing. A belated welcome to BL <3

Nah they are no worse than alcohol or tobacco sellers. No one is forcing you to buy.

i see the pusher as the dude on the corner with the cig yellin at everyone that hes got the flamest dope for the next 69 blocks.

dealer is a guy with a cell phone and a car you call when you want the flamest dope for next 69 blocks.

I've been around alot of drugs in my time. I don't think I ever saw anybody ever "push" drugs on somebody else. The person obtaining the drugs has always sought them out and not had them "pushed" on them.

Imo, pusher is just a derogatory term for dealer: they just sound more 'evil' when they're 'pushing' their drugs rather then just 'dealing' them.

A pusher is someone who at least understands supply and demand curves, Keynesian economics, flow of commerce, and is usually a proponent of free enterprise.

Lol, Keynesian economics in drugdealing? Care to explain how that works? =D

^ in certain markets where the supply is tightly controlled, the groups that control it exercise centralized planning. a particularly egregious example is the U.S. based LSD market.

Pusher=someone who sells for money first
Dealer=someone who sells to make sure people have a good time first

to elaborate, a pusher will always let you know when he (or she, but seems to usually be hes) has drugs, what kind, how much, whether you want them or not. While this means that you know where to get stuff, this can get annoying. hence "push" in pusher

a dealer, OTOH, is someone who deals in a limited selection of high quality products, and generally has a much smaller client base. You have to call them, and they may not always have what you want in stock, but when they do, it will generally be of higher quality, although the price might be higher as well. hence, you have to "deal" with them

I would use the term "hustler" I think instead of "pusher' for most of the definitions above.

"Pusher" always brings to mind DARE class, lol.

Hey, kid, you want some PCP?

While in the real world, people in the biz, if they want to last for any length of time, want their shit less out in the open than more.

The whole economic calculus of the game is based in risk (of exposure) vs profitability (of a larger clientele.)

I think of a pusher as being a term used by anti-drug people to mean people selling dope are forcing it on people who would not use drugs otherwise. It is a negative term when you hear non drug types talk about someone who is a pusher"getting people hooked on dope",but as we all know "Dope Sells Itself",and needs no one to force it on anyone or any adverstising to make people wanna buy it ,because people will buy drugs without the stereotypical "man pushing dopes at the schoolkids" type the anti drug people try and portray dealers of any kind as being someone who intentionaly finds kids and gives them free dope until they get hooked.Although there are some people that do "push" dope of variuos kinds on naive people and give out some free "tastes" and then charge them, this is more the exception than the rule, although the dealers in some places who hang outside of Methadone clinics offering free or discounted heroin to ex-heroin users when they come outta the Methadone clinic trying to get them to use smack agiain is my idea of a "pusher" or the people selling that "cheese" shit to grade school kids in Dallas are "pushers" in my opinion, getting kids to use heroin without them knowing what it is really is a "pusher" in my opinion.
