I have been using 60-80 mgs of hydro for about a year and took my last dose today, just wondering how long my wds should last

get some loperamide (immodium) ASAP!!!! you will be shitting your intestines out if you dont, take 10-20mgs of immodium once you start to feel like shit!! opiate WD really is a bitch, i have been through it and it really really sucked! i wish you best of luck my firned

Physical withdrawals last about 5-6 days. Just be sure you don't have much coming up and will be able to spend your next few days lying in bed/on the toilet.
I don't mean to freak you out but it's the psychological withdrawals you need to be most conscious of...yeah it's unpleasant being sick but it'll pass, it feels awful but you won't die or anything and you know they'll be done soon (even though it feels like they last forever). Just make sure you're aware that any depression or feelings of emptiness you'll most likely experience once the physical stuff is done (that's called PAWS - post acute withdrawal symptoms) are perfectly normal and do go away eventually. It's the hardest stage to go through but it does pass.
Again, don't mean to scare you but it really is much worse if you're not aware of it. Good luck!

Imodium works well but can start a new set of problems. Exercising works good for PAWS. Make sure you don't have too much to do for the next week. It will be hard but not impossible. Just remember many of us have been through this, and suffering is needed sometimes to keep to you clean in the future. Best of luck to you.

Thanks all, it was hydrocodone btw. I took the last 30 mgs about 12 hours ago and it already sucks. I have some loperamide and I think its helping, I wish I could take off work but can't so its gonna be a long day

you'll be fine man. paws might suck, in my experience the codones are the worst in terms of them. i don't think the physical withdrawal will be too bad on 60 - 80mg for a year. the loperamide will help, gabapentin always does wonders for me in the first week. see if you can get a bit of clonodine. if you stick with it for a couple of weeks i think you will be amazed at how good you feel without opiates. good luck

Day one is on hold after a shitty, sweaty night of kicking covers someone gave me a bottle of tramodol so I gave in. Thanks for all your answers tho

Search engine=good.

This could have been found out using a two second google search.

The average opiate withdrawal cycle for the acute phase is about a week. Getting worse until day 3 where it peaks, than getting better every day after. Main physical symptoms are usually over with around 7 days.

If you've been using a long time and have a big habit, withdrawal can last much longer though. However, your habit was very small and you were only using hydrocodone so it's not going to be very bad or last very long.

Hydrocodone is on the low end as far as opes goes, so your w/ds will be minimal in comparison to stronger ones, idk what kind of supply you have, but tappering is always benificial when quiting cold turkey, so make a taper schedule and try to stick to it, from personal experience, i was on 200-300mg of oxycodone a day, if i went 24 hours without my meds i was in complete misery, however do to my financial situation i was forced to lower my intake to 30-60mg a day, then down to 15-30mg a day, once i was down to that amount, i found that my w/ds were totally managable, almost laughable in comparison to what they were when i was taking 200mgs, I had little to no physical symptoms, it was all mental from there..

Just a quick sidenote, if you're planning on quiting all together, avoid the lope, it delays your bodys natural cleansing process. Although shitting your brains out is rather unpleasent, it's essential process to flush your system out, make sure you're drinking pleanty of water to stay hydrated, and although you might not have much of an appetite, eating foods rich in vitamins will help your recovery..

Awesome thanks so much for the info, I really thought I was taking way to much until I read some post on here. Where I live opiates are really hard to get, I've been doing them off and on for about 3 or 4 years just had a steady supply of Norco 10s for a year, they're just way to expensive now.

DO NOT JUDGE YOUR HABIT BY OTHERS. It's how YOU feel that makes a difference. Once it starts cutting into life/finances, for me anyway, it's a problem. If you haven't already started basing decisions on pills, you will eventually. I'd use the trams to taper down and jump next weekend. If not, enjoy the ride, but be aware that the crash sucks and there is always a price to pay.

I was thinking the same thing...using loperamide might just prolong the withdrawals so I would let Nature take it's course. I've been through it too many times to count but for me it's heroin...the shits and the insomnia is what gets me every time. And of course after the physical w/ds are done, your mind will be racing and the drug dreams are unbearable...Do your best, dude and stay strong!!!!

Im going to try to taper with the tram the only problem is I always say I'll start tomorrow, ops are the hardest thing I've ever tried to quit. I dont know how many nights I've said I wouldn't use the next day and woke up that morning to take a dose.

Realistically, you'd be best off if you just kicked it cold turkey and suffered through the 3-5 days of feeling shitty. Not saying that 80mg of hydrocodone is insignificant; it's clearly enough to produce dependance; but people have WD'd from bigger habits with no taper and lived.

Tramadol is kind of a shitty drug to taper with as it has other effects aside from the opioid bit (it acts as a SNRI), and if you use it for long enough you'll become dependent on its SNRI effects and have to deal with another set of symptoms.

Loperamide/Immodium is just an opioid that affects the body and stays out of the brain (there is dispute on the latter point, with some claiming P-glycoprotien inhibitors can make lope centrally active... if you ever wanted to see a bitter argument go look at the lope thread) and so while it will relieve physical symptoms like the shits and stuff, you'll prolong your WD.

If you're going to taper, reduce your dose as quickly as aggressively as possible, the idea should be to maintain just enough opioid to be functional, and constantly be reducing that. An opioid taper is not meant to be a comfortable affair.

Another key thing: you have to seriously commit to the decision to stop using opioids.

I would agree with sekio and suggest not tapering with the tram. The withdrawals will suck, but they definitely won't be as bad as they could be. People have lived through worse. Plus there are lots of things you can do/take to help with different symptoms, if you can get your hands on some benzos or muscle relaxers that helps a lot. Be careful about using too many benzos though, because they are also habit forming of course and the withdrawals from those would be way worse than what your about to go through. Also IMO smoking pot helps a lot. If you get really bad leg cramps like I do, try using a heating pad, it really works. Good luck to ya

Yes u def need Imodium in ur life, it helps with the physical part immensely. Make sure ur eating. I know it's hard to have food w/out taking any opiates but u need to. As far as how long ur wd will last - it is different for every person. Mine usually last about 2 weeks. The RLS really kills me even after eating tons of bananas and taking the Imodium. Good luck.
