Hello Bluelight users!

I am in search of help from anybody who has gone through this before! I figured I could share my story here, so here it goes! My girlfriend is the love of my life, and after being with her for almost 11 months, I know it's true! When we first started dating I had no idea how deep she was.. She is such a good person and in no way shape or form am I trying to dock her or speak bad about her. Before we met I had only experienced with psych drugs, mescaline, shrooms, etc... When we first started dating I was smoking weed and drinking good scotch. After amazing times with this girl, we began to adjust to each other's lifestyle. She had been screwed over by a guy who got her pregnant which resulted in a mis-carriage. She did not take care of it properly, and thus, she ended up going through a lot of surgery. After surgery she had gotten a prescription medication of oxycodone 30 mg in which she now carries quite a bit. I had slowly started to get into the medication with her and it had drained all of the $ i was going to use for a house.. I am now in a stage where I have support financially along with my job, however I got caught in the mess of Oxy and got to about 3 x 30 mg a day!!! Smoking these was what dominated the scene for me. The high was amazing, as some of you probably know!!! I have decided to quit after such a long time and would love to talk more about my girlfriend in a future thread, but today I would like some help and guidance from you knowledgeable users or ex users. I consider myself very strong, and I pride myself on being able to quit anything. I've quit something strong before, and I can quit again! I need some guidance and help though, and I am super set on quitting. I got my mind prepared, nobody but my girlfriend and her friend knows I do these...

I have researched quite a few things to help with w/d symptoms. I tapered down on the drug, and i started at 2x30 mg oxy a day. I would do one in the morning one at night. I did this for three days. I moved on to half a 30 mg in the morning, half before i went to work in the afternoon, and half of one at night, again in three day intervals. I moved on to half of a 30 mg in the morning and half a 30 mg at night for about 2 days. I really had my mind set on quitting, so I decreased the dosage to a half a day, either all at once or a quarter of a 30 mg in the morning and a quarter at night. That lasted 2 days, and although I should probably continue on with the taper, I am tired of this shit and I have 3 days off of work to deal with the beginning symptoms. I had shotguns along the way of the oxy smoke from my girlfriend. I do not know how much i get from each shotgun, that would be a good help for somebody to answer for me, but it doesnt matter because guess what! Today is day one no oxycodone. It feels great. I know the symptoms will intensify, however everybody's story I have read, people have been using for a long time. I have only been using for a bout 6 1/2 months, so I know that I have an arm up on people who have been using for years. I have currently looked into magnesium and my girlfriend had a friend that gave me some muscle relaxer stuff that helped with her mind as well. I have a very very strong mind... I'm all about mind over body, I'm not worried about my brain, im worried about the symptoms being too overwhelming... But I know I can do it. I refuse to go on anything that would either mitigate completely or negate the symptoms only to prolong w/d symptoms. Please help! I can do this, but i know there are better natural remedies out there than what I have planned. Any info is helpful to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you need any information regarding my status let me know and I will keep everybody posted on my progress. Thanks again, <3 to all my brothers and sisters out there struggling for a good life! I love you all!!

Thanks brotha! Will do. Im a noob at this, and have just been reading, but ill stay strong. Could you elaborate on PAWS for me a bit? Or anybody? Thanks again!!!

Well, basically you might get depressed and bored after giving up the thrill of getting high, and find yourself back on dope.
Get involved in other activities to help keep you distracted and avoid thinking about dope.

for sure buddy, I appreciate it!!! I think I am going to be okay man, Im mainly worried about the physical symptoms these next few days. Im almost 24 hours in and i've made it this far before... I do smoke bud tho, and that will be my thrill of getting high. I just want off opiates. I will not neglect thinking about PAWS tho, thank you for the warning!!! I appreciate everything guys!

If you are seriously trying to stay away from oxycodone then (IMHO) You do NOT want to substitute w/ stuff like suboxone and methadone.... I highly recommend Kratom;)! If you are not familiar with the medicinal qualities of Kratom, You should definitely read into it!!!

Isn't Kratom another opiate?

I wouldn't trade one opiate for another, especially considering how close you are to being "done."

Check out NSA's links, he has some great meds listed there that will be a good crutch while you finish up whatever little W/D's there are that you are dealing with and then you can just walk away from it all.

Welcome Serpant and congrats on your first clean day. I can't tell you how things will go for you, but it sounds as though you've tapered down very well, and it will definitely help with any withdrawals you may yet feel. I can tell you that the times I went through withdrawals weren't pleasant and didn't involve tapering down, until the last time I quit for good. If you have a prescribing physician, both Neurontin and Lyrica are used to help with withdrawals, and Lyrica was the magic bullet for me. I had almost NO withdrawal symptoms when I took Lyrica after stopping opiates. Now, the physical withdrawals are usually only bad for 24-36 hours, then start tapering down for most folks I've talked to. Sometimes there's a feeling of almost having the flu. Lethargy is a big one, and restless legs, along with insomnia and sweating, can be very uncomfortable. Diarrhea also can go along with it, but with the way you have described tapering down, I would be surprised if any of these things are really bad for you. After three days opiate free, most people have gone through the physical changes that can be unpleasant. I would encourage you to find something very positive to combat some of the depression that can occur for a couple of weeks, possibly more, after you stop completely. Exercise it excellent. Yoga is good, or just getting out and taking walks. Keep your mind busy and active without a lot of free time for thinking about using, and learn to immediately replace thoughts of using with another thought of moving forward. Takes practice to do it, but it works. I wish you the best my friend, and I can't agree more with 80ampd who discouraged using suboxone and methadone. That's just starting the cycle over again. If you want to be off, you've made a great start. I know you can do it. Peace.
