Hi all and thanks for looking.

I am on Day 9 of an enforced DHC withdrawal after finding I was allergic to it (was on 200mg a day). I know this is small fry BUT am finding it soooo hard. Psychologically I am a little better, the anxiety is subsiding a bit BUT the physical symptoms are really hard to tolerate - I ache all over like flu STILL and feel like going up or down stairs is a monumental effort. Does it get better or is this not normal??

It will get better man you just gotta see it through. Try taking vitamins and eating healthy if you are not already and get yourself to do some exercising, it may seem hard to get the motivation to do it but once you get going it certainly does help alot.

It is so hard to exercise when climbing the stairs is a problem, but I know you are right. But what I need to know is this normal for day 9? Have looked on net but everyone says oh you are normal after four to five days?!!!

200mg?

Sorry, I think it's unlikely you would feel like you have "the flu" from day 9 of WD's from DHC.

First of all, have you ever had the flu..? I have, for about 11 days, and I was in hospital for 5 of them. Note that's flu, not a cold.

I expect is is pretty much all in your head.

And that comes from a 130lbs female who takes around 550-600mg daily and has wd many times.

you could be experiencing "PAWS" (post acute withdrawal syndrome)..
do some research on the topic and see if that sounds like that could be it.
hope you get better soon :)

EDIT: From wiki:

I've withdrawaled from massive doses of codeine after one year of use (1,300mg a day) back when I lived in France and I was finished with the worst of the withdrawals by day four, and pretty much totally fine (except for PAWS) by day 7.

But everyone is different. Age and individual body chemistry play a big role in how long it lasts.

Either way you should be feeling better real soon.

Thank you all. Will look into PAWS. It's honestly not in my head. I am just worried I have buggered up my pain receptors for good! Thank you again
