I'm no newbie to the cannabis world as I have been smoking for about 8 years and I'm an ecology major. But Ive heard those slang terms referred to as different things depending on who you ask. What are YOUR definitions of those terms?

We don't say dank here, so I'll miss that one. Schwag is just shit weed, very leafy, possibly seeded, low potency, bad effects. Kush refers to strains that are descended from the cannabis grown in the Hindu Kush mountains. Skunk properly refers to strains descended from skunk number one, although over here it is a generic term for any high-grade indoor bud.

Dank / Headies/ Dro - grade A named strains
Shwag / Mids / Dirt - grade F to D, unnamed poorly cared for, lots of stems/seeds

Kush/ Skunk are not terms I have heard used for cannabis, unless we're talking about strains.

These terms also vary greatly from one location to another, since at first glance I already have some different definitions than chainer does. Schwag and dirt are the bottom of the barrel garbage shit filled with seeds...but mids/greens can be alright bud, nothing great but not shitty either.

I've heard skunk bud used to describe bud that isn't very good, probably of mid quality, but reeks like it should be significantly better. I've also heard "kush" used just to refer to high grade weed in general.

OP, where are you located? I know even within the SAME STATE we use different terms to mean different things...beasters is a common one, in one area it means shitty bud from canada, in another it refers to something mid-grade. Randomly, someone called a seed a "beaner" once and I'd never heard of it before...and once again, this is within the same state, not a different region.

It's really the same thing as the southerners calling what I call sneakers "tennis shoes", and the Great Lakes/West calling what I call soda "pop." As a linguist, gotta love semantic variations <3

Dank: really good herb, sticky/moist weed

Shwag: low mids- dirt grade weed

Kush: Specific strain of weed that is indica dominant, good bud

Skunk: we that smells like skunk (in the US), in the UK they seem to call any kind of Chronic skunk

Same country and same response, except I've never heard anyone say schwag either.

I see dank and schwag to represent qualities of weed, such as:

Schwag/Mids: (D-F) : dirty; contain seeds and/or stems; usually brick (at least at one time)
Bud/Nug: (C-B) : marijuana in bud form. Can be alright to pretty good.
Dank: (B-A) : extremely fragrant bud, better than the normal but not the best
Chronic: (A-A+) : top of the food chain, itll straight fuck you up.

whereas kush and skunk to be strains-

Kush-(A+) belongs to the chronic category; one of the best out there
Skunk- (B-A) i personally consider most skunk strains to be dank due to their higher THC content and pungent smell

for me,

Kush = good stuff.

skunk = stuff that has a strong smell, and that usually means that it's good stuff, not necessarily, but usually.

schwag = shitty, bricked-up, very leafy, very stemmy, disgusting stuff, it's
probably brown.

mids = okay stuff, not the best, not the worst. Usually just roll it into a blunt or joint because you usually don't feel too bad about wasting it.

dank = see: skunk

dro = high grade, grown indoors with hydroponic growing techniques

From my own experience the terms get thrown around a lot. So I'll put 'Chronic' in there too.

Chronic = Grade A buds for the chronic smoker who may have an extremely high tolerance. Basicly anything that would get you ripped in one hit.

Dank = Grade B good buds. Slightly sticky and moist. Seedless and most importantly a pleasant up and down. I'd say 90% of what I've smoked would fall into this category.

Skunk = A strain of cannabis. But is also loosly used term for anything with a strong funky smell. Usually a small homegrower who doesn't properly cure their product and/or allows it to sweat in a plastic bag will call it "skunk weed." In my own experience its usually been no more than good dank buds.

Kush = A strain of cannabis. But I have heard it used for any type of bud. Also I've heard the term "Kosh" (like kosher) to describe some mellow buds several times.

Shwag = Bottom of the barrel smoke an eighth to get high. This is the stuff you buy when you converted a 4 1/2 foot licorice rope canister into a bong the last time you got the munchies and it takes a bag to fill the bowl.

beasters is a common one, in one area it means shitty bud from canada, in another it refers to something mid-grade.

???

We don't get shitty weed in Canada, considering a) none of it comes from Mexico and b) more or less everything here is indoor hydro.

Beasters is rarely used around my area but when it is it is refering to mid-grade B.C. sinsemilla that is better than the average mid grade buds normally..Shwagg is what we call mexican weed,or bricked up seedy crap that is either green or brown but is low grade and low potentcy. No ones uses the term dank here so I dunno exactly what quality it is,better than shwagg of course...Kush is the name of numerous strains like Bluberry Kush,Afghan Kush,etc...Skunk is a specific name for various strains bred from Skunk#1 like BC Super Skunk, Afghani Skunk,etc...any bud with skunk in the genetics , although some people refer to any buds that have a "skunky" smell as being skunk, usually refering to mid grade sinsimlla of unknown strains by some growers...

I'm from UK , by nick name derives from a band i played in 20 years ago so is entirely coincidental to this thread. chronic is not a weed prevalent over here anyway in fact i don't think ive ever partaken.

first time i went to amsterdam prob about 22 years ago we were sold this stuff (skunk) and we'd never heard of it, smelt anything like it, or been quite as stoned before.... skunk was the original european artificially cultivated cannabis plant so the use of the term generically is apt because all of these variations that continue to flourish are related to it in one way or other.

as an example i would describe kush (or specifically hindu kush) a particularly potent variety of skunk, unfortunately it seems to be one of many strains lost to the vigours of enforced genetic selection

schhwag - onomatopoeic name i think ill give that a miss whatever that is

dank - my guess would be weed sold within 12 hours of being chopped off the plant

Haha I know man, but here in the U.S. Oratleast my area, dank simply refers to any decently good weed. Chronic, dank, heads, etc I've seen used interchangeably up and down over here. Most often headies refers to like top shelf cannabis, grown indoors (generally. That's not to say you can't grow fantasic weed outside). Personally that's how I use it, dank/chronic is generic good weed. Mids is everything below this. Obviously there is a disparity in quality within each 'category'.

The term Beasters historically refers to buds grown in large indoor ops in British Columbia, but has been adopted to mean different things in different places. Most times I hear it refer to middling quality chronic.

Dank means high quality.
Schwag is anything with seeds, anything that's had its kief rubbed off already, anything in the ugly grey-green to brown color range, or anything mixed with shake or leaves.
Kush is a specific strain, or family of strains of the Cannabis indica species; I'm smoking a bowl of Candy Kush right now. I had some good Bubba Kush hash last month. They're all indicas or indica dominant indica-sativa hybrids.
Skunk I thought was a British term, and meant the same thing as 'dank' does in the USA. There are a few specific strain names with Skunk in the title as well, so Skunk can mean the same type of thing as Kush.
Chronic usually means the same thing as dank, but some people for a while used the term chronic to refer to joints/bowls laced with crack.
