Dangers of Smoking out a Can

Thanks for the responses guys - so the risk is alzheimers from the aluminium. I checked wiki and the b.p is way over 1000oC


Hrrmm, it seems to me that everyone has a unjustified/not quite proven view against cans, much like how people think ecstacy makes holes in your brain and LSD dissolves your spine...



Reasons for using cans/tin foil=

*VERY easy to access and conveniant
*Can be hidden/disposed of without suspicion from parents/others. I mean my short term memory is as bad as it is - i dont need mum finding my pipe that i left someone whilst blazed out of my mind...
*cheap/free



I refuse to smoke joints/blunts as i think they are an incredible waste of weed (my stash is small as it is). with tinfoil/cans i can make a gravity bong which conserves the weed.
 
I doubt smoking out of a can will cause significant harmful effects. It's not exactly healthy for your respiratory system, but neither is smoking weed in the first place.
 
theres no solid proof about the alzheimers thing, true, but it is a fact that soda cans have plastic lining on the inside, and i dont think anyone really wants to inhale plastic fumes. prolly not too harmful if only done as a last resort every once in a while, but i wouldnt make smoking out of a pop can your main way of smoking.
 
no scientific info, but i can assure you that if you take a couple extra dollars and get yourself a pipe or bowl you will see that it is well worth it

No. Again, it's not about the aluminium but the coating inside it and the paint on the outside.

It's not rocket science. When you prick holes in a can and put a flame next to it and inhale you're burning the paint and inhaling the fumes. And yes - it is proven that inhaling paint fumes is toxic, probably even moreso when burnt.
 
I have seen bowls for $3... You can find $3 worth of change on the street if you really need too lol

If you're thinking of using a can, why not then just use aluminum? That way you know it is pure, and you can flex it into a shape you desire. 8(

If you're regarding efficiency, what's more suspicious: an soda can that's mutilated and burnt, that must be disposed of to hide, or an aluminum bowl that can be crumpled into a ball in your hand?
 
Is there really a reason for you to smoke out of a can?
Is the desperation that bad?

Yeah like other people said, you really should get a pipe or a few packs of papers dude. A can IMO is something only used as a last-ditch act of desperation. I've smoked out of em twice, and that's because both times my wallet got soaked and the pack of papers inside got all wet. Whether you spend a buck or two on a pack of papers or a few bucks on a cheap pipe, either way, fuck cans.
 
Just smoke a joint.

To whoever likes smoking out of cans, I suggeset holding a flame to a can for a couple of seconds and seeing what happens. If you see smoke, or smell fumes, that seems like pretty clear evidence that you're inhaling something other than bud when you smoke out of a can. If nothing happens, you must be safe. I can pretty much guarantee that it'll be the first one.

yeah man, smoked through foil for ages, really bad, really really bad, used to heat the foil to get the layers off it, not sure it didnt any good tho. talkin about low quality u.k resin smoked through lung bongs, u had sellotape, bag and bottle. Make the gauze out of the bottle cap, foil in the middle, brillo! Wicked time, just stick to the green now, as I need the mental capacity for other things!
 
i once saw a movie clip online about making a bong at home. it involved cutting a can to make the cone to put the weed in.
the next step was to keep burning the cone until no smoke cam off of it anymore due to the paint/ink.

this would lead me to believe that its harmful to smoke out of cans.
