As much as I appreciate your concern James,
I do not know where you got the idea that
I've missed prior to this one time. I've never
said that in this thread or any other. On
the contrary, I've said that I was success
ful. My husband is usually here to do it
for me or supervise my doing it on my own.
I do not learn by watching someone, not every
one learns that way. And as someone from
this forum has told me, if I'm going to iv
H, then I need to learn how to do it by
myself. ... Futhermore, how I'm supposed to
"get the hang of it" without trying is
beyond me.. Last I checked, there was no
such thing as perfect iving by osmosis.
I do know the consequences of getting an
abscess and if I was constantly missing
I would refrain from trying to shoot myself.

I do realize that this is a harm reduction
site so I guess I should have expected answers
like yours. I know that noone can effectively
teach me how to shoot over the internet
but they can offer some pointers to make things
easier. Many people have, and they do help and
I do think about what is being said to me while
I attempt doing this myself. Their advice has helped
tremendously. Whether its suggested that
I don't shoot myself or not, I'm still
going to try as I'm sure half the people
here would also do. Especially since I
usually am able to without too much trouble.
This particular time it didn't go as well
as I had hoped and thought people might
be able to speculate about what I did wrong
so that it doesn't happen again. They did
offer some ideas, which are totally plausible.
Because of their ideas, I will be sure to
be extra vigilant so that it doesn't happen
again. That is harm reduction. Suggesting
that I don't do something that, as I'm sure
everyone else can see, I'm intent on doing
is pointless.

Next time I have a question about shooting
or anything else for that matter, ill
just keep it to myself. I know shooting
and missing is dangerous. Hell,for that
matter, regardless of how careful
a person is or how knowledgable they are,
doing drugs at all is dangerous. That's
just how it is when you choose to live
the type of lifestyle we all live.

A person shouldn't be made to feel as if they got
in trouble because they ask a question to
help reduce harm further. I see that all
the time on this forum. People tell other
people not to do something that you know
damn good and well their going to do anyway.
And instead of being given suggestions to
help make them safer and reduce harm, their
chastised for even having the idea to begin
with. I would be interested to know how
many people have left this forum and
forums like it for that very reason.

Ok so as some of you know, I've been trying
to do a shot of H by myself. Since I've been
practicing, I've been successful most of
the time but today, just now, I think I
missed. I searched the site and found info
about "misses". I ran my hand under hot
water for about 5 minutes and massaged the
area.

My question is this. ... When I pulled back,
it registered really good. So by that, I
knew (or thought) I was in. Well, I had a
lil trouble pushing the plunger in. I
couldn't seem to keep a steady hold on the
syringe and push the plunger at the same time.
... Due to that, I registered again, saw
that I was still in, and put my thumb up
against the lil lip finger spot thing at the
plunger end of the needle for some leverage
and pushed it in like that. ...I didn't feel
it burn or anything like it usually does
for me if I miss while I was injecting the
H in but when I had shot it all, and pulled
it out, there was a nice lump waiting
for me. What I'm wondering, and thinking
what happened was that maybe when I carefully
switched the way I was holding it that it
fell out? I'm positive that it registered
from the get go.. Is it possible that my
vein blew? The injection site is slightly
numb and has like,..a hive I guess. I'm
keeping a hot rag on the area and massaging
it and the lump is gone for the most
part now. ... Can anyone speculate about
what mightve happened? ... I feel high
so either way, I achieved my goal. But jus
for harm reduction purposes, I'd prefer
not to miss again and am thinking that if I
can figure out what I did wrong this time, I can avoid it next time.
