regarding the next blood draw, have her eat heating/moving foods/herbs, dress warmly, tell them to have a bucket of hot water ready, keep the limb way below her heart, have them trendelberg her if necessary, hang it off a bed, etc, soak, tourniquet, and draw.

I would highly suggest going somewhere else for the next labs. If she has enough circulation to keep limbs from becoming gangrenous, she has an accessible vein.

Dont have a nurse do it, they are more familiar with IV's and definitely dont have an MD go poking around looking for one, they are useless. Find a lab tech who has been at it for a long time and knows what they are doing. Advance searching for someone in an inner city facility might benefit her in the future."

Consensus seems to be that you should get a lab tech to do it because they are the best at it.

However, this is not the first time.. or first facility. We have done the Trendelenberg positioning, the warm, hydration etc. And he/she is totally right about the lab techs being way better... only problem is that after my surgery and the Anesthesiologist using the ultrasound machine and having to place an IV w extra long cath, he remarked at how many of my veins were not visible on his ultrasound machine because the machine only goes a certain depth, and my veins were beyond that. Most of the labs don't have needles deep enough to reach my veins I guess. Idk.. I feel helpless man.
 
Oh no, please don't apologize! You did help. Just the fact that someone cares enough to READ my post, let alone look into things for me helps me by making me feel better. Pain shared = Pain lessened. And I know, it's not exactly something that I should be having a nervous breakdown over, so maybe that quote is not appropriate for this sitch, but you know what I mean.

Anyway, I went to the lab and the fingerstick was done. And, embarrassing to say, the lady that did it had NO idea what she was doing. Anyway, long story short, I got my results back already and all of my #'s look great! I am very happy :) Though next time I would really like it if venous blood could be obtained. I am going to continue to look into this issue and research (like I've been doing for YEARS already and yielded practically nothing..) and I am going to contact that vein specialist and see if I could benefit from a consult.
