So just a curious subject I was thinking about; could someone explain to me the process when I drink the grapefruit juice, then have a couple cigarettes. Does the inhibition break down between juice and the enzyme, or is it too strong? Does smoking make more of the enzyme or just speeds up the rate that it works at? Which force is stronger? Thanks!

Grapefruit juice inhibits CYP3A4 which metabolizes opiates and other drugs. Your buzz will last longer with 12-16 oz grapefruit juice 30 min beforehand. Cigarette smoke supposedly induces CYP2D6 which converts codeine and hydrocodone into morphine and hydromorphone (stronger opiates) which will give you a stronger buzz. I don't know how much or how often you have to smoke to get that effect though.
