Hi!
My question is simple: Does anyone know if Choramphenicol (and/or Metronidazole) are P-450 enzymes competitive inhibitors, or just inhibit the enzymes for an X amount of time until they resynthesize?
Regards!

It is thought to have inhibitor capabilities but the exact mechanism is, by my knowledge unknown. I know of someone that ingested "ink-mushroom" and drank alcohol after went sick like after taking disulfiram, and the actives in that mushroom should mimic metronidazole in its way of inhibition. And we are talking hours not days of inhibition. But that is what I know and I am not certain.
