At the start of the week I made some Passion Flower tea from dried Passion Flower leaves, drank it to help me sleep. I believe I drank 2 grams on Sunday and 1.5 grams on Monday.

Injured my back and got prescribed Cyclobenzaprine. Looked up the interactions, and it says concomitant use with MAOIs could be fatal.

So I have to wait 2 weeks before I can use the cyclobenzaprine.

Is this correct?

passionflower is very weak i know it can be used with ritalin because i asked my doc and she said it was fine. maybe somone will enlighten you further on it. why not phone your doc and ask?

you could also switch and try a different herb such as valerian or catnip or even melatonin.

Passion flower is a very, very weak maoi and the 2 week guidelines I believe are primarily for people who have been taking them daily. I am *speculating* here so please don't take this as gospel.

I imagine after a few days between the two you'll be fine but why risk it? Just phone up your doctor and ask. Its not like the passion flower is illegal and you're being responsible by asking first.

True. I had originally phoned Telehealth (24/7 phone-a-nurse thing in Canada) but she told me to phone a pharmacist. Guess I'll try doc and pharmacist, though they don't seem to be too knowledgeable re: "herbal" stuff. They talk as if they've never heard of the stuff.
