There seems to be many potential benefits to the intentional practice of cycling drugs, not the least of which is avoiding tolerance. I would love to hear your experiences on drug cycling, what combinations you found that worked, timing of the cycle etc.
This current experiment is a 2 phase cycle that runs for about 2 weeks or slightly longer. The first phase is a ramp up in daily use of methoxetamine (MXE) that lasts for about 1 week. At the end of that week is the introduction of 10-20mg of methadone per day for about a week. At the end of that phase is a 2-3 day transitional period where the methadone is ramped down to 10 mg and then ultimately 5 mg per day as the MXE is reintroduced and ramped up starting at about 50 mg a day and then around 100mg a day for the majority of the phase, sometimes exceeding that by the end of the cycle.
Pretty much the only other drug that is used is cannabis semi-regularly during both phases of the cycle with occasional breaks.
This cycle has worked well for many reasons. Both methadone and MXE are NMDA receptor antagonists, but I believe that their mechanisms for antagonizing the receptor is different which helps prevent tolerance buildup. Additionally, the state of mind produced by each drug is very different, almost opposite, or at least complementary. The methadone dulls and flattens the senses a bit, and it results in great sleep during that phase. Conversely, the MXE really amplifies the senses and 'awakens the spirit' which leads to sleeping less during that phase. Unfortunately, MXE can't be used daily for much more than about a week before the positive effects really start to dwindle. For a lot of people I would recommend taking no drugs during the MXE tolerance break, but it's a great solution for someone with daily pain that both the MXE and methadone work wonders for. Once again their pain relief actions are through different mechanisms (dissociation vs. opiation) which helps avoid tolerance build up.
I imagine doing either one of these drugs alone is not possible to feel so balanced and sustainable overall.
