CWE of Paramol Weighing the Filtrate

Hi There

I performed a CWE of 96 Paramol tabs (7.56DHC x 500APAP) My normal method is to biltz the tabs whilst dry in a mini food processor until a fine powder. I then add 100ml water from tap, stir for 5 mins and place the solution in the freezer for 3-5 mins. I normally do a double pass filter of a firstly a cloth to enable me to really squeeze the solution into a pooring jug. Then I pass the solution through a double brown coffee filter (dampened). This time once I had done this I noticed the first filter had broken so once I had passed it through the first coffee filter I then coffee filtered it twice more (3 in coffee filter passes in total).

Even on the last one there was some resildule culk. Approx a match head. I drank the solution and am now paranoid I've consumed too much apap. So I did my normal trick of drying and weighing the collected filtrate from each pass. I do this by laying out a few sheets of kitchen towel, using a rolling pin to roll out the solids and then warm in the oven for few minutes.

The weight of the filtrate totaled 52 grams. Now there is probably some reamining moisture, but I have only just thought of the other inactive ingredients. Does anybody know the total wieght of a Paramol pill to enable me to calculate how much I may have consumed. The solution I drank had no heavy solids in it however my Paramol CWEs are always cloudy. Would I have had obvious solids in the solution if there was say 4gms of apap in there?

Any advice really aprecitated.

this is why I always use an oral syringe to do CWEs, you end up with like 5ml of liquid to drink. literally can't hold more than ~50mg of caffeine or virtually any apap/aspirin.

CWEs aren't meant to be cloudy. It depends on the technique and filters if it's a clear solution or a milky solution. Long long time ago I used to do this on codeine/APAP pills and I'd use 4 or 5 tissues as the 1st filter and even this gave quite good results but then I would place cotton in a regular 10ml or 20ml syringe and this was my 2nd filter. I would pour the solution from the first filtering into the syringe (some water was first run through the cotton wool so it doesn't absorb that much water from the solution) and then I would push the plunger of the syringe. The result was always a clear solution, ~20ml with 800mg of codeine phosphate not counting what has been lost during the filtering. When I was to inject it intraMUSCULARLY, I skipped the step of dissolving the white mush with some codeine phosphate still trapped there and again filtering with the same method (then I would focus on getting out the most binders I could obviously than getting the very last mg of codeine phosphate), but if it's for oral ingestion, then I would end up with another ~20ml making it ~40ml all and my assumption was the most I could lose during a fast filtration was at most 20% (I counted it doing the filtration numerous times with more and less tissues, and pushing the plunger more or letting the filtrate go through the cotton wool itself for longer etc.). So all in all with re-running the filtration process the losses would be theoretically reduced max to 15%, not really effective if there was little codeine but even though I was a skinny teenager, I got to needing 800mg twice a day and the second one wasn't as strong obviously. Old times...

I don't know what Paramol contains as binders and fillers but I see no reason why you couldn't get a clear solution. It's just that 96 tablets is a lot so you would need more water and a bigger filter, and a bigger lab funnel or something to substitute for.
