Crystal Ice Tears

[neverwas]

their footsteps leave a momentary inprint
as they tread through frost bitten grass.
the sun struggles through breaking clouds
while into crystal ice drops the tears they shed now turn.

in two straight rows
they follow the leader.
all dressed a like
their faces all the same.

like an animal sleeping
they let down their guard.
hand to hand
one foot infront of the other.

some staring at the ground
some straight ahead.
re running todays event through their minds.
letting death once again dance and play with their heads.

walking side by side
no one uttering even a word.
death dances on the ground
invisible, silent, oblivious to us all.

they get closer every step they take
pause for a moment
hands squeezed tighter.
a single rose provides the only colour.

the journey ends here
his life forever frozen.
the memories decend into the ground
as she lays a single red rose at your feet.
