Hello blue light.
ive been taking an interest in body building recently and i want to start trying some BASIC supplements. ive read that creatine holds water in the muscles for longer, making the more dense and more productive. does anyone have any first person experience or another supplement worth trying? and is their any side affects that i have not read about? -thanks

about my self i am 18 (well matured) and on a steady diet. i have been lifting for 3-4 monthes now and want something that can boost my "game" a little.

creatine isnt really needed at your age. your already flowing with testosterone anyways. i hear it can effect your kidneys if you use it a lot. just stick to food like voxide said and whey protein. its what im doing :)

Yes creatine can have an effect on your kidneys as socalpoper has stated. When I was 19 I first tried creatine for a few weeks and saw more mass but no definition. It also made me bulk up in places I didn't want to which resulted in me having to diet again just to lose the extra weight. It wasn't worth it for me.

Food and constant nutrients are the most important. Creatine in addition, when used properly, will help you get that extra rep or two. At first it won't seem like much, but after a few weeks and progressively after, that extra rep or two will exponentially jump start your routine.

It definitely helped me in the past, and I didn't mind the extra water weight. After 6-8 weeks of use, take a month off. I prefer to bulk up and worry about my weight later on.

Most people don't get enough creatine in their diets, and I've found using creative cyclically ("loading") in conjunction to whey protein, definitely DOES increase gains, but not in huge amounts. Creatine is great for recovery though. Glutamine will help but only if you need it, and most people's diets will be sufficient here. A calcium and vitamin D supplement are always in good order, as muscle gains require a strong skeletal frame. But ALL supplements are truly contingent on diet, so examine that first, to see where you may be lacking. Also, lots of sleep... Hah I should learn to follow my own advice...

Creatine is a very good supplement, one of the only ones that truly works and has good benefits

just like everyone is saying keep eating, creatine does put a little water weight on you but thats just it doing its job. It increases cell volumization so your muscles have more room to grow

L-Arginine is a good supplement to boost your game. It leads to increased nitrogen retention in the muscles, bigger pumps at the gym, and it increases blood flow to the muscles and also the soft tissue in your penis (it's also known as natures viagra). I take the shit everyday. Just don't take it if you are on blood pressure meds or nitrates for chest pain.

Get yourself a protien powder as well, doesn't have to be anything fancy.

Stay away from steroids until you are at least in your mid twenties.

Creatine is very high maintenance. You must find the form that works for you, because not all people respond to creatine monohdrate. More importantly, creatine is very hard on the kidneys. If you need confirmation of this, get your blood work done toward the end of a cycle. Your blood urea nitrogen level will be higher and your "creatinine" levels will also be much higher. Neither of those things is good for kidney function. Some people say that you need to cycle creatine for it to continue to work beyond the immediate short term. My opinion is that creatine will help you add 5 lbs of water weight, which you will definitely lose once you come off it. Does it help you get an extra rep? Probably, but at what expense? The risk reward ratio is very unfavorable. Considering how hard a bodybuilder's kidneys already have to work, why take something that will concentrate more stress on them at little benefit?
