cracked cool tube... anyone know how to fix

i received my first cool tube and it was cracked (the glass)... is there any epoxy that will hold up to the heat from an mh/hps 400? my concern is the seal and keeping the flow of air moving to reduce any heat and hopefully make my room cooler and the bulbs last longer.

if i MUST post a picture of it i can but its on top behind the reflector so its out of the way/eye site.

edit:

i do have some left over ac ducting tape i could use... just couldnt find a temperature threshold for it... since its sitting just above the hottest area in the tube.
 
my idea is to (seriously) use a lot of chewing gum, ive always used gum when ive made bongs cause gum will keep it airtight so maybe that?
 
Sorry to hear about the breakage OP. Might be better off just buying a new globe?

um, contact the shipper and/or courier...

that glass aint cheap, and should be finely and evenly dusted to diffuse the light.
it would probably be safest to remove it, if by chance that split, and one of the edges hit the lamp while running, oh man youd better hope you arent in the room - and your plants would be full of extremely hot tiny shards of glass.

if its a metal halide, that will spill UV rays everywhere, and looking at that would not be good.
 
check at all the hardware stores in your area. just ask for a heat resistant epoxy for glass. maybe try epoxy and bailing wire around it to help hold it together. duct tape will dry up and start flaking off in a matter of months.
 
I would use special heat resistant ducting.

You can get a round Bakewell glass replacement. They used to use them for cooking.

However, I would suggest getting a better reflector. Cool tubes have terrible light spread. Unless it's a vertical grow - that's all they're good for IMO.
 
contact your seller and get a replacement/refund, seriously isn't very safe to smoke with broken pipes and such, there might be a glass shard in there that you could inhale!
