Same here. In fact I love being proved wrong about someone when I meet them. Moe for example; KB, Wazza, Plazma. All much less intimidating than I assumed
It's rare I don't like someone *at all* in real life; I am pretty good at finding at least some common ground with people, even if they have differing opinions or are totally polar opposite to me.
There have been several times I've liked someone's internet personality so much that I've pursued a real-life friendship only to find a total lack of "connection" in real life - not a dislike, just an absence of the personality I assumed they had, or a total awkwardness in contrast to the seamless communication we shared online. That's disappointing, but is probably more due to my unrealistic expectations than any fault of theirs.
Luckily the former scenario (being pleasantly surprised) happens more often.
ps. on reflection, it's generally one or the other. I can't think of anyone I know who is exactly their online personality offline. Why would they be? It's a projection after all, and words can't properly portray every human nuance.
