Could the Corynanthedine molecule be tweaked in any way to create a psychedelic, empathagenic? Not that it probably hansn`t been thought of before.I really haven`t a clue to chemistry but thought i would throw this one out there just to see if it`s even possible or logical.

Mitragynine is 9-methoxyCorynanthedine and another part of kratoms μ-opioid activity is due to 7-methoxyMitragynine (taken from wiki) so I suppose there are ways to make it psychoactive, if it isn't already.

Cleavage of about half the molecule would produce a restricted ring tryptamine, but I don't think even that would be that psychoactive going by the results from 2,a-dmt

I was under the impression that Corynantheidine had similar effects to Yohimbine, thats why i thought something might be done with it. Thanks for the informative reply MrPorter :)

Corynanthine is a diastereoisomer of Yohimbine. A diastereoisomer are stereoisomers that aren't enantiomers (non-superimposable mirror images of each other).
Corynanthine has been shown to have some serotonin activity but can't really find anything about it except this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2991775 which suggests that it is an agonist.

Did you mean Corynantheidine which is a part of Kratom, or Corynanthine?

Just discovered for myself the existence of Conolidine...mu agonist found in some plants including a cousin of the iboga plant. That one is not too far off from ibogaine...moreso than yohimbine and kratom compounds.

Boy oh boy, our indole family has psychedelics of all shapes and sizes, stimulants, opiates, opiate/stimulantish stuff, and of course the cannabinoids, and I bet there is a sedative one out there too. The indole nucleus, is there anything you can't do?

MGS is there a plant that is on the open market for distribution or cultivation? I've never heard of that alkaloid before and would be interested to learn more about it.

Aside from the iboga plant? Are you aware of:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voacanga_africana

The bark and seeds of the tree are used in Ghana as a poison, stimulant, aphrodisiac, and ceremonial psychedelic.[citation needed] These effects are due to the presence of a complex mixture of iboga alkaloids such as voacangine, voacamine, vobtusine, amataine, akuammidine, tabersonine, coronaridine and vobtusine.
Medicinal uses[edit]
A number of these compounds have pharmaceutical uses. [2][unreliable source?] Of particular pharmaceutical interest is voacangine, which is a common precursor in the semi-synthesis of the anti-addiction medication ibogaine. Small amounts of ibogaine are found in Voacanga Africana root bark but not in sufficient quantity to have much medicinal effect

Seems to be relatively well-known, not quite sure what you mean exactly by open market distribution or cultivation but yes the root of this plant seems to be available at ethnobotany sources.
