Cops Seize 51K Tablets Of Ecstasy Valued At $1M

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Authorities in Santa Monica seized nearly 51,000 tablets of the drug Ecstasy, valued at more than $1 million, officials announced Tuesday.
Ramandeep Singh Sandhu, 25, was sitting in a parked car Sunday near Lincoln Boulevard and Broadway Avenue, when he was arrested and his car searched, Santa Monica police Sgt. Robert Almada said.
Authorities allegedly recovered 40 pounds of MDMA in the search at 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
MDMA is a hallucinogenic drug, which is commonly referred to as Ecstasy.
Sandhu, who authorities believe to be a Canadian National, was booked on suspicion of possession MDMA tablets with intent to distribute them, Almada said.
On Monday, Sandhu was transferred into federal custody, pending federal narcotics trafficking charges, police said.
