I'm one of the weak eyed contact lens brigade and i wear them while e-ing... i was wondering who else wears contact lenses while they're pilling? and have they ever had any trouble... ?
for the record i use 1 month disposable lenses... and i've only been pilling once but i had a small problem with them, like a lens almost came out cuz i was staring at everything without blinking, and i had to rub it back into place and blink in order to moisten it... what do u guys do about keeping them moist... cuz otherwise they feel like sandpaper at the end of a long night....???

hhmm....go the green bosch and lomb (sic) contacts..they're the best I ever had. I had them once at Teriyaki and I've everything stopped being blurry. The blue johnson and johnson one's aren't bad either...they tested black and fizzed in less than a second also.
hehehe..silly me...taking the piss.
I wear contacts and have usually have no probs even when pilling...the only time I have probs is when they dry out early in the morning when I've worn them for too long or there's too much smoke. Take some eye drops if it gets irritable.
I know Scoobydont wears contact - dood freaked me out at Cage one night wearing glow in dark devil green ones..

Like everything else in the body, while e'ing the eyes lose moisture as well, so like drinking water, for ur mouth, eye drops for the eyes....u should be right. Everything else that u see blurry is ur pill buddy.

i wear 2week disposible acuview2 lenses but i wear them alot more than 14 days. I have no trouble wif them until the next day when they start to feel really dry and stick to the eyelid a little.
u can get around this by carryin around a small bottle of eye drops 4 contacts.

acuvue2 is the best! its one of the most comfy ones going around, an they only ever get annoying when I go home after a big night out and sleep with my contacts on. When I wake up its like stuck to my eyeball...

Element~ed you might want to reconsider how long u leave your contacts in b4 replacing them - dosent matter if they are normal or disposable
Sure, eye drops help - but its only temporary relief and they will be of no help...when you get older...and your eyes are near-permanently dry and you take the risk of bursting blood vessels if you leave contacts in for a protracted period
...I know - I'm living proof

Shouldnt f**k with your eyes dude - u only get one pair

I'm in the same boat as element~ed. I wear AcuVue1's (I found that the AcuVue2's irritated my eyes - though it could have been a bad batch of lenses).
I usually get about 2-3 months wear out of a pair of "2 week" lenses (wearing them from approx 7am-11pm every day). I've discussed this at length with my optometrist/contact lens specialist, and while he expressed a little concern that the lenses can become worn after awhile, he said that as long as they don't irritate the eyes too much there's no problem with it. His advice is that as soon as the lenses become annoying to wear for a day, or as soon as they become noticeably damaged (scratched, torn, or just too worn) then they should be chucked out.
However, this doesn't mean you can wear them for a few days in a row, or even overnight with any comfort. While the disposable lenses have a higher water content and are more permeable to oxygen, your eyes still need to be able to absorb a lot more oxygen overnight while you have them out. If you wear the lenses (particularly old lenses) for a couple of days in a row, the lack of oxygen will make your eyes feel like SHIT and also there is a risk of ulceration and/or infection. (That being said, I've worn my lenses for long periods, eg. NYE - Sunday through Tuesday, with only minor discomfort -- it is HEAVEN to take them out afterward though).
I think a good rule of thumb is that if they feel shit, take them out. I've never had a problem with lenses while on pills, however if you get really stoned then your eyes can become majorly dry which can make them feel pretty wretched. Keep up the fluids, use some comfort drops or visine, and you should be fine. I usually take a full lens-case and my glasses to chill recoveries too, then I can take the lenses out and let my eyes relax as much as my body.

If u use eye drops make sure u can use them with contacts. So far i have not found any that r compatible. The pharmacist guy told me the normal drops dye your lenses bright yellow. This could b cool though

I wear 1 month disposables with a difference, not sure if people have heard about them but they are called "Day and Night" made by Focus and the difference is that you DON'T take them out at night. You wear them for the whole month and then change them. I have been using these for about a year and never have any trouble with them. Basically you can "set and forget", I never have any problems with dryness or iritation even when in smokey rooms because they are made from a completely new meterial that lets you absorb 6 times more oxygen then standard contacts.
here's a link to an article
The only issue is that they dont make them for all magnifications.
Worth asking your optom when you next buy a set.

I'm with Kandeman.
These contacts rock! I don't take mine out for two weeks. You can just leave them in and forget about them. Clean them after two weeks, and throw them out after a month. They're v comfortable, even after a night in a smoke filled room.

Beware though, cost is up to 6 times more than for standard lenses over 12 months.
Ciao all,
Cowboy.

I just really want to say that I think it is funny that a discussion on the best contact lenses has found its way to the drug discussion board!!
I wear Johnson and Johnson Surevue. I think they are the same as the accuvue ones, just named differently. They last me about 2 months and are never any problem when I am clubbing. I have 8 boxes of them that I bulk bought from contacts.com for about A$150, which is about how much 3 boxes cost here. So, I have about a four year supply of contacts. It is pretty cool, cos if your prescription changes, they change any left over contacts.

Yeah I'm another contact lense wearer. I usually try to take them out for a few hours before going out each night so that they arent too bad over the night. I often cant really be bothered going to recoveries because I just want to get home and take my contacts out. I never really have trouble with them unless I fall asleep in them... thats when they can get uncomfortable. I think I may get some drops soon (do they help get oxygen to the eye?).
Yeah but I try to be careful of my eyes because they arent that great (short sighted) and I'm scared of them getting worse.
Take care all.

I'm with Kandeman. I wear the month long lenses. I take them out once a week or once every 2 weeks to clean them and give my eyes a rest, and i only wear them on alternate montha (and always when i go out.. can't handle dancing with glasses on!) I'm never without a bottle of drops (try the Refresh single use ones - they're a bit more expensive but they're handy for sticking in your pockets when out without having a big bulge from the bottle).

Munchee,
Trust me. Don't worry how you treat your contacts. I'm short sighted, and I've been wearing them for years.
My first optometrist gave me VERY strict rules about not wearing them overnight, cleaning them properly, removing the protein build-up, yadda yadda...
I followed absolutely NONE of her instructions, wore them for two years without cleaning etc, (I was young and stupid!) and when I went back, she canned me... until she checked my eyes and found out my prescription had improved!
My 'permanently' decreasing eye sight. Which had been going down hill for 17 years, is now improving. And my Op doesn't tell me what to do any more.
Sorry for all that guff. But I just love the fact that doctors can be wrong.
Ciao all
