i am on about 6 mg of subs daily.

For the past few weeks i was not able to have a BM at all. Then i got some focalin and some miralax and found relief as i was able to have a steady movement immediately after dosing the focalin.

My issue now is that in the past week, the effectiveness of my routine has weakened. i have found myself becoming constipated, however there is a catch...i have for every single day had a bowel movement without fail...however all my movement are more or less diarrhea. I have all the symptoms of bad constipation; cramps, pain, needing to strain, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and even inability to pass gas until hours after my dose. ive even developed some left leg pain. My fear is that I have now developed an impaction in my colon where my intestines are virtually completely blocked allowing only some gas to sporadically pass as well as only bowel movements that are liquid enough to penetrate through the block. I am very worried and any advice of what i should do would be greatly appreciated. I don't want this to ruin my thanksgiving and time with my family that i am much looking forward to. thank you.

P.S. A few hours ago I passed a few hard typical constipation poop rocks through. felt some relief, however feel as if more is to be done.

This is really something you are going to have to see a doctor about. When I was on suboxone I only pooped out the little popcorn chicken turds, but never any diarrhea.

You're probably right about the liquid stuff passing around the blocked portion. If you're having movements, I'd try to encourage those first, bbut if you don't get it situated soon, see a doctor.

right on. when i say diarrhea i feel like i have to be more specific. its kind of like the pencil thin clay like soft bowel movement. sorry or all the info, im just essentially trying to pinpoint whether this is in fact moving around a blockage or if this is just run in the ill constipation.

where would i get help btw? I really dont want to go to the er. i dont feel like this is for the er. but then again in order to go to a doc i have to have an appointment which could take time in which i dont want to spend waiting given the chance this is a serious problem i have.

Is there an urgent care facility near you? There are several places that dont require an appointment. Thats what I would suggest.

Try laxatives and go to a hospital if it gets to be a few days without a movement or you get a fever.

Definitely see a doctor somewhere (a clinic or anything, whatever is available to you) if this doesn't significantly improve soon. Going WEEKS without a bowel movement is seriously unhealthy. In the meantime drink tons of water and try the following: The recommendations for opioid-induced constipation when there is a fear of possible impaction/obstruction are usually oral stool softeners and glycerine suppositories. Oral and rectal stimulant laxatives should be avoided if there is possible bowel obstruction. If none of the above provide adequate relief, use an enema with normal saline (not a stimulant enema). You may also (at any point) massage the abdomen in a circular motion (clock-wise if someone were looking at you).

In the future, anyone on opioids should be taking extra-special care to avoid constipation. This includes regularly: exercising, taking laxatives/stool softeners when needed, taking a fiber supplement such as psyllium husk (*as a preventative measure - not a good idea when you are already very constipated or think you may have an obstruction/impaction), drinking lots of water, taking probiotics/digestive enzymes/etc, eating healthy and so on. It is really ideal if you can get to a point where you can prevent constipation through diet/lifestyle changes instead of relying on a laxative (especially a stimulant laxative, Miralax is better at least). If it is at all feasible a dose reduction can also help. It is much easier and healthier to prevent constipation than to treat chronic constipation.

If you are pooping out small pieces and are passing gas then your bowels are still moving, albeit slowly. If there was impaction you would have severe acute pain and your appetite would go downhill fast.

Best thing for those dry pieces is aloe vera juice, or castor oil. Both are inexpensive. Don't know if you have acess to either. Castor oil will lubricate your bowels and it will all come right out. Take 2-3 tablespoons and wait about 4 hours. It's non-toxic and does not form dependence like other laxatives.

Coffee with a couple of teaspoons of olive oil, after that mix 3 heaped teaspoons of psyllium husk to a glass of OJ, always worked for me, and of course there's laxatives. It is very important to have frequent shits!

I've got IBS so bowel movements were never a problem for me, even when taking huge amounts of oxy. I cannot imagaine not being to poo for days or weeks on end. You could have a serious condition. I would go to hospital or urgent care center. Don't wait too long. If enema, drinking loads of water and salads don't help, check into hospital cos it might be impaction.

coffee, cigarettes, magnesium, fibre, laxatives

you'll be shitting a lot, or go into withdrawal, that works eventually.
