Hello everyone,

I am concerned because I feel like I'm tripping almost 90 percent of the time. When I close my eyes and stare at the back of my eyelids, I'm seeying jagged triangular fractals, but the triangles are so small that I cannot become so involved, it just looks like flashes. I have not done any crazy doses of acid, but I have done almost 40mg of 2ci by accident, which it was the worst experience of my life, as I literally felt pain from being torn apart in reality, but I lived. I've done shrooms, acid, and 2ci.

However, now I'm seeing these flashes around wherever I look, and it's annoying because when I smoke a good amount of weed my vision whites out every time, and I've whited out to the point where I couldn't see at all. And it's just tiring to see flashes when I'm trying to go to sleep. I can't focus on reading, or appreciate something beautiful because I'm so distracted nowadays. Could someone tell me if this will ever go away? It's been more than three months since the devastating dose of 2ci and almost more than a month since I've tripped anything.

Thank you in advance for the replies, I'm really concerned about this.

Maybe just stay away from drugs for a while and live healthy. Most post-psychedelic weirdnesses go away after a while. Are you depressed otherwise?

Thank you for your kind assurance. I would say after seeing things in a new way, I am able to analyze myself and my role within society in a new way, which is sometimes depressing, but I wouldn't say I'm clinically depressed, just more aware.

HPPD may never go away, but give it a week before you reach that assessment. Does anything help? Maybe drinking or sleeping more?

Stay away from psychoactive substances and HPPD will probably go away after seveal months of abstinence. When was your last time of taking psychedelic?

It's been a month since I took shrooms. Perhaps I'm anxious, and that's why I sometimes have chest pains and visuals, but cigarettes help a lot, and moderate drinking helps too. There are many times when I don't even notice it, but it permeates quite often like when I'm trying to sleep. Thank you for your responses, it means a lot.

If the visuals go away when you're relaxed, that suggests to me that it's all in your head. Once you learn to not pay attention to them, they'll go away. The more you focus on the tiny fractals the more anxious you'll become, and the cycle perpetuates itself. I second what others have said: abstain for psychedelics and eat well/exercise. I would be very surprised if your problems persisted if you followed this advice.

I agree with you MrGrunge. My theory is that after I've tripped multiple times, my brain has figured out a way to channel into a psychedelic state without the presence of psychedelics. Like learning to use your ear muscles. It does become more apparent when I'm noticing it, but it's also very apparent on weed. It does give me some assurance thanks.

Actually, HPPD-like symptoms are quite frequent side effects of using psychedelics. These symptoms will become 'true' HPPD when you bother about them.

Sorry for quoting myself, I'm just too lazy right now to write a big post describing similar condition in me.

Personally I don't bother about my symptoms much, and they include a shitload of static(visual snow), reduced color discrimination, halos around lights at night, lots of afterimages, slight objects morphing, synaesthesia, "gray" thick lines appearing for a few seconds, occasional OEVs as well as CEVs. I think I am fine.

Having visuals when you fall asleep is one of effects of phenomenon, called hypnagogia. And actually, good amount of 'sober' people experience this. ;)

at least be fortunate that you're not seeing things very intensely when your eyes are open. one of my friends knew someone who did 2ci or 2ce (can't remember which one) frequently over a month, and she constantly sees things in her every day vision.

Also, perhaps you may have other mental conditions, which people often confuse with HPPD.
Could you please elaborate this thing:

Stop using drugs for a few weeks. Eat healthy and get good rest. It's possible that it may never go away, but it's likely that it will go away if you abstain from psychedelics (including marijuana) for a while.

I've tripped A LOT of times in the last few years, with most of them being of high dosage. I've been taking about 800 mics of LSD every weekend for the last six months. I suppose I have mild HPPD, but I enjoy it. When I close my eyes I have light visuals, and with eyes open things are always morphing a little bit. Also I noticed that now I have super gnarly afterimages. I see faint patterns in my visual field sometimes. All of this gets way more intense when I smoke cannabis. When I smoke weed it's almost like I took a weak hit of LSD(like 30 - 40mcg).

I don't know about the whiting out from weed thing though, that's a little odd. If I hold in a big hit of weed I almost pass out sometimes, but that's about it.

I took 40mg of 2c-I once, I just wanted to get rid of it, I was at a show and it made dancing feel really weird..... lol, Never doing that again.

Sorry if nothing I said helps.

Weed is a psychedelic, too. And while the visuals it produces may not be as intense as say, acid, it's still capable of producing them. Also, weed induces anxiety in many people (myself included), which could compound with the anxiety of the unwanted visuals. Stay away from drugs for awhile (save for nicotine and alcohol, as you said those tend to help, though by no means should you self-medicate with them). If you're having troubles falling asleep due to the visuals, you could try taking a valium or something before you go to bed.

Sorry for my inadequate description. I said I feel I'm tripping 90% of the time, but it was an exaggeration. It was because I was anxious when I was starting to write this thread. I was talking about the visuals, that even my normal open eyed visual I feel a change in how I see lighting, computer monitors, etc. That happens 100%, just matters whether I notice it or not.

I reached the conclusion that I'm just becoming too focused on the visuals.

And yes, I have had hypnagogia for as long as I can remember, it's just gotten more developed and fractalish ever since I've tripped. But thanks for the awesome info I had no idea what it was called. :)

I actually have a friend who trips a lot, and combined with his atypical mindset he sees weird happenings all the time. It's quite funny to see him tweak randomly, he gives me rides to places and sometimes he would shout out that random things are on the road; dogs, people, ghosts, etc. He believes it's hppd but it seems like it's developing into schizophrenia.

Once again thanks for clearing things out for me.

And to reply to this quote, when I whited out I wasn't anxious at all. In fact I had a lot of fun because it was a totally new experience for me, I laid in my bed having extremely beautiful visuals, landscapes etc, not patterns like I usually see on acid.

So I don't think it's necessarily induced by stress or anxiety. It just becomes worse. I'm going to have to figure out a way to just live with it until hopefully it goes away.
