My question in this, most likely, long-winded OP is do you consider a person who truly enjoys reading novels has a similiar subjective (high) or brain chemical alteration effect as marijuana on the most basic sense? Distraction from reality, an escape/vacation, relaxing, etc
------

Had an interesting conversation with someone. I've noticed a lot of people who smoke weed and are more.... "intellectually-inclined" tend to read a lot of novels.

Further discussion makes what reading a novel and smoking pot do to said people seem to cause rather similar effects in the most basic sense.

"I meant it in the way as just occupying my brain for a bit to keep myself from overloading. It just keeeps me level headed. Kills time. Ive always enjoyed reading. I've always had an advanced reading level."

Explains why i detest novels and smoking weed. However i love informative reading, learning new things. And taking substances such as DXM or substances that put me in a headspace that doesn't make my thinking seem hampered, just observing concepts At a different angle.
A scan on their brain activity while reading and another while on marijuana would be interesting...
Care to put in your opinion on this topic?

I Always thought people who enjoyed reading usually read novels...

if this is true maybe LSD makes you more likely to watch late night shopping TV

.... i love reading but only informative... things that teach me something. Reading a novel... its just words on paper.

Maybe my question was stupid. My idea was people who imaginative and like to "escape" reality by reading books would also enjoy being stoned (the person i talked to about this doesn't do any) because it can induce similar imaginative escape-from-reality feeling.

I was on mephedrone and methadone when i typed that... i thought there could be some correlation.

I think there's a thread in Drug Culture about personality and drug preference. In any case, this isn't really CD material. Closed.
