comunity college and a state university at the same time?

I have a wuick question.
Im a student in a california junior college and ive finally reached the point where im able to transfer to a CSU. the major im going fourth in would be Industrial design. the only problem is that major only requires you take up to calculus 1, and im starting to find that I really like math and would like to continue my education past calc 1 and 2. would it be possible to have my regular schedule for my Bachelors at my university and then on the side be erolled in maybe one math class at a local JC just to continue my interest in the subject. I have a feeling theres some rule against this or something.

You can go to both at the same time but it's sort of a hassle. You should be able to take all the math you want at CSU. (Going to Chico by any chance?)

You should go in and ask a counselor or make an appointment with the department head of your chosen field at the state campus. The department head will should be able to tell you how to incorporate your math into your major. Maybe you should get a math minor while you are getting your major. You will never regret having a math minor. In this new effed up economy, the people who still have jobs are the people with a strong math background. Math teachers are working, English teachers (and others) are laid off.

Definitely take all the math you can. I envy your options. If you can do advanced math, you can do just about anything. You'll get hired before I will no matter job we are talking about.
 
hmm I was under the impression that CSU's had per unit costs? so it would make more sense to to take whatever classes that interest me and are not apart of my major at a JC.

unfortunately im not going to chico I really love that town. the only way i would end up there is if I decided to major in physics. ill most likely be headed to csu san francisco. I have been to chico MANY times though and have a ton of friends that go there. man what an atmosphere that town has. the shcool is underated and the town is so much fun.
 
On my way there in a few hours myself, grimble. I love it. It is cheaper to take your classes at the community college. You just need to find out how they will work it out for you and transfer your credits. That's why you should make an appointment at your state college. They will have to tell you what's best in your case.

ahh so you go to chico? asome dude. Ive always had a big part of me just want to switch my plan to there. had some good shrooms up there once. anyways thanks for the info, its nice to know you can still pursue passions outside of your major
 
I am a (old) dude-ette and I graduated already. I was teaching until the money disappeared and I lost my job. I'm going there tonight for a month just to be there, because, as you point out, it is an AWESOME town.
