I got sorta a cold maybe a upper respitory infection. And being that it is friday, i had to come to work, so I wouldnt get asked for a doctors note. Anybody know any over the counter meds or med combo's that really work?

I'd like some info on this too. I've been sick with a cold type thing for a couple months.. but since I refuse to stop smoking or go to the doctor, I haven't gotten any better.

I prefer to overmedicate to the point of numbness. That way you can hardly even tell you're sick while your body repairs itself. Just get that loopy "medicine head" feeling all the time, but there's nothing wrong with that! Just like taking too many antihistimines.
Anyhow, those Theraflu hot tea drink things work very well for clearing up any respritory things, and stay away from smoking anything. You'll be fine in a hurry.

Hear, hear! I also like to overmedicate to the point of numbness.
What would I recommend though, as medicine --
-sudafed, except get the generic pharmacy brand, it tends to be stronger! I mean it! Also, get some pseudoephredrine for general stuffiness and sniffles.
-get some echinacia (the dried herb, not capsules) at a local health food store. If possible, get some rosehips (dried), some lemon juice, and honey as well. Boil some hot water and pour it over 2 teaspoons of echinacia and 1 teaspoon of rosehips. Brew for five minutes. Strain out herbs, mix in 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 2 teaspoons honey. Drink this tea 3-5 times a day. It REALLY works - you will feel almost completely better for quite a few hours after drinking this tea.

Interesting tea fairynymph. I'm going to have to give it a try sometime soon.

I thought of one other thing to add that I rather enjoy. It is called Emergen-C, I'm sure you've seen it around your locan grocery store. Comes in a few flavours, and has a lot of vitamins and junk in it. Not to mention its fun as hell to eat! Fuck adding water, just eat a few packets of that shit straight up. Its like the inside of that fizzy Zotz candy from back in the day.

Coldeeze Zinc Lozenges are the only proven REMEDY for the cold. People who use a zinc lozenge will get better up to TWO times faster than those who don't.
Hope this helps

Pure

Hot tea with bourbon and honey and a little bit of lemon juice, in MODERATE DOSES, works for me.

actually... about the best thing that i have yet to find as far as herbal concocting goes in really ~curing~ whatever it is...
about a tsp each of:
elderberries (the ONLY thing ever proven to bind to the flu virus and prevent it from invading other cells)
astralagus root (good for the immune system)
echinacea (makes your body more efficient at fighting infection)
catnip (sedative properties, and helps calm my coughing)
***rosehips CAN be used and are a good source of vitamin C, but if you want to use them in the tea, you must first brew them seperately in ~boiling~ water for about 10 minutes to get what you need out of them.***
as well as...
about a tablespoon of peppermint leaves (it makes it taste good, and is really good for nausea of any form)
~~put all of this in a tea ball, let it steep in a cup (and coffee cup will do) of hot (but NOT boiling water) for about 5 minutes... add some honey and lemon (to soothe your throat)...
Drink this a couple times a day, and you'll feel better within about 48 hours, or less...
All of this can be found at most bulk organic food supply stores... just ask the guy behind the counter. The total cost for a week's worth of herbs - less than $5... the tea ball is gonna run you about $2.50.
If you've got more questions about the herbs, email me.
