Hi, I spend most of my time on Bluelight reading this forum and I imagine that you guys would be most likely to help.

I live in the UK and I'm currently on 22mg of Suboxone daily. I've been clean for about three months and I'm starting to consider reducing and eventually getting off sub completely.

The only issue I have is that I've read the WDs are terrible, even after tapering down to less than 1mg.

So I was wondering would I be better off switching to Methadone? I know the WDs from meth aren't much fun either but if they're less severe than that would be a bonus.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know to a degree this is a subjective question but non the less I'd like your opinion.

Thanks
Stuart

No way, methadone is much much harder to come off.

I just came out of rehab and there were some people coming off methadone some off Subutex and suboxone and the people coming off the subs have a much much easier time.

Firstly 22mg is way way way too high. You should be able to go down 1mg a day until you hit about 6mg with minimal discomfort.

Then I would say slowly reduce from 6 to 0.2mg over the course of 30 days.

Then get some sleeping pills for 3 days, and you'll be fine. It really isn't all that bad. Just sweating a lot and sleep problems.

Seriously methadone is so much harder to come off!

Have a look at this thread too, you can learn about dosages like what you're on are unnecessarily high.

Good luck mate!

Not sure this is a subjective question at all -- methadone withdrawal is worse then sub withdrawal.

Oliphil got it right..lower your dose and taper directly off the sub. The dose you are on is too high and I bet you can get it done quite a bit with no pain whatsoever

Best of luck, you'll do fine :)
