Opiates are pretty much a straight slope.
Once it wears off it is completely safe to go for another round. Especially with the short to mid-length acting ones like hydrocodone, you are ok.
Have fun, but do realize that tolerance builds very rapidly with chronic re-dosing of any opiate/opioid.

If you're already sure you can handle 40mg in the first place, it should be fine....but you may find yourself with a tolerance for even more next time around!
