i'm just getting into comics. friend lent me 'the watchmen' and i enjoyed it, so i ordered some 'sandman' books after doing a little digging.

does anyone have recommendations for good stuff available as tpb's? i like dark fairtytale kind of stuff, horror, some sci fi and fantasy as long as it's not too stuffy and corny (ie no LOTR etc), if that makes any sense. something fantastic, not so personal diary zine'ish ...

if it ties in with psychedelic type drug type experience, that would be all the better.

i read that one yesterday! can you explain the rivalry between superman and batman? i didn't really understand what the fight was about.

i thought it would be darker than it was. it was just kind of smarmy. have you read 'arkham asylum'? it sounds like it might be the best batman.
 
Neil Gaiman's Sandman stuff is awesome...there are a couple of Death limited series that spun out of that as well (Death's one of my favourite characters in that book). You should see if you can track down Shade the Changing Man too - I don't think there are any trade paperbacks yet though, so you'd probably have to track down back issues...

Also I haven't read Fables myself, but from every review I've read of it, it sounds like it might be right up your alley... :)

Shit im drawing a blank. My HR director is a huge comics lover and an awesome suggestor based on what you liked previously, let me meet with him on monday to get a list going.
