they all eventually turn black ive learned but then you usually cant smoke out of them. i try to clean my pipes often now even if it sacrifices the pretty colors. smokes better tastes better in my opinion
I've found that if you clean pipes using a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and sea salt, swishing it around and letting it sit in a plastic bag for a few hours, most of the resin comes out without sacrificing a lot of the color that seems to appear in the glass. Keep in mind, that the color changes BECAUSE of the build up of resin, so when you remove it, color will undoubtedly change.
^yeah and it makes the glass change colors ! like my green and black pipe is now green, aqua, blue, black, grey, baige and this really cool color i cant describe
The person making the glass puts very light tints of color into it. The thing is, you don't notice these tints and designs because they're light and easy to miss (if you hold a chameleon bowl up to a bright light you can see the shine of color you would normally miss.) When you smoke out of chameleon glass you're coating it in resin. The resin makes the inside of the bowl dark, which in turn brings out the tints of color in the bowl that you didn't see before.
I posted about this gem in another thread about some guy who broke his pipe and was sad. This was shortly after it was obtained. Colors are changing slowly but dramatically... The white part is bleeding into the whole midsection of the pipe. The honeycomb is starting to get purplish colors inside it..... You can see a spot of red right at the base, these colors just randomly appear in it in the outermost layer of the glass. I don't think it is the reflective property playing here but maybe something else? I have no idea what the guy put in it. It's getting these shiny metallic spots too, you can see one of the first ones on the left in between the white at the tip and the body of the pipe. It's a small blueish dot, although the camera doesn't capture the color exactly. 100% awesomeness.....
