I know that in the first post about my friend's friend's T3 we were talking about Tylenol but I've only done the acidification on aspirin.
I understand what you are saying and it makes perfect sense. Adding it before though helps it break up and as stated in your quote of me above the last chloroform wash won't take any extra dissolved aspirin.

some people advise using rather hot(not too hot) water to start the solution then bringing the temperature right down to near freezing, surely this will aid the dissolution of apap and help to eliminate the binding and give a greater yield?
i've not done cwe many times and only heard of using hot water recently.
but yea, i've noticed a greater effect from using codeine ibuprofen pills and just eating them rather than doing cd/apap extraction with a similar amount of cd involved so i suspect i am losing quite allot in this process, i'm trying with hot water tonight though so i'll see if it's any better. however my greatest concern is how much apap is actually getting through into the mix, nobody want's to unnecessarily damage their liver.

I love this thread. I've had codeine in straight 60 mg tabs, codeine linctus, & 30/500 & 8/500 forms. Going to the doctor is a fucking pain in the balls so i'll often get a box of 32 8/500 co-codamol.
With that you have a potential 252 mg of codeine trapped in those giant chalky pills. I've done 100's of extracts & i'd say i get about 70/80% meaning it feeels like 180 mg to me.
This is fine by me as i find 180-240 to be the best dose.
Man but i was stunned when i first got my hands on pure 60 mg codeine. I took 2 & it kicked in a beaut. Mind you i take regular breaks to avoid total dependence & huge tolerance. Shame some people take doses like 4/500 mg. What a waste.

theres nothing wrong with using 100mL of water.
Even at room 21 degrees that's only 1.4g apap(according to wiki apap solubility)
If the solution is cooled it has to be less than 1.4g.
At 5 degrees 100mL of water would hold less than 500mg apap
a good way to tell how much codeine u got is to compare the amount of water u add to the amount of water u end up with after the exctration.
if u used 100mL of water but only have 80mL after extraction than u got 80% of the codeine.

^A good rule of thumb but not completely accurate if you don't recrystallize your solids as codeine can get caught up in the binder structure.
