Cold sores after inhaling poppers (volatile nitrites)

I wonder if anyone gets the same symptoms days after inhaling poppers. I get recurrent sores around the nose. They mimic the symptoms of herpes simplex as far as I can judge. I thought I had herpes simplex, then I discovered it always occurred in relation to using poppers. I take care not to spill it though. Nasty, corrosive stuff.
 
^ Wait, do you mean the amyl precipitates cold sores, or sores that look like cold sores? So what I mean is, do you get cold sores? It wouldn't surprise me if amyl caused HSV1, since HSV1 (cold sores) are induced by stress, fever, infection, sunlight, chemotherapy (eg, fludarabine), and of course many other undetermined factors
 
wanted to say that, too: maybe the poppers is just fucking up your immune system, so that herpes becomes visible/ "breaks out".
 
I suspect it may actually be herpes because I get some isolated itching on my cheeks and forehead, and this tallies with herpes symptoms. Also, the sores don't appear right after I use poppers. I first get some itching, then on day 3 the sores emerge. This would lend credence to the theory that poppers are dammaging to the immune system. There was even a theory once to the effect that massive use of poppers in the gay community explained AIDS prevalence in gay men. Anyway, in my case the causal link with poppers is now undisputable. I'll sit this herpes outbreak out and avoid poppers like the plague in the future. Whoever it was who said legal highs are the most hasardous had a point.
 
Get poppers on your skin and they'll burn.
Some people are sensitive on their lips to poppers.
Try huffing them from an inhaler instead of out of the bottle.
 
Bingo ... i found somebody with the same symptoms. I'm itching all over. I though I had chicken pox all over again. Herpes, cold sores, and the pox are all in the same family I believe. I am also going to avoid those things (n02 cartriges like the plague. Right after I started to break out, I opened the canaster (whip cream dispenser-the kind you add the little metal cartriges to) and there was a black greasy residue with little pieces of metal (miniscule amounts) mixed in. I got to thinking. Where does that little piece of metal go when the cartridge is punctured? Our lungs? This was definitely a turning point for me. I thought that I had finallly found a safe "drug". This is not the case if it is effecting my immune system. I hope that stuff has not caused any permenant damage. I guess they could only figure that out if they to an autopsy on me or something. Sad thing. I love the N02. I am glad this post exists. To bad that the goverment is probably monitoring all this. Or am I paranoid and delusional? I know that didn't come from the nitrious, but probably from those damn impurities. IMPURITIES SUCK!!!
 
^ Nitrous and poppers are completely different drugs ;)

I always got a rash from sniffing poppers but suspect it was getting small amounts on the skin around my nose. Some seem to be worse than others for it. In the UK they've gone from amyl nitrite to butyl nitrite to some other nitrite and the side effects get worse each time. Glad I stopped using the nasty stuff years ago.
 
Cold Sores after inhaling poppers

Just found this thread, and thought Id reply.... Ive been using poppers for months now... and I do suffer from cold sores.... I get sore on my nose from inhaling them alright, but for me I can say the day or two after I am almost guarenteed to have a cold sore break out which is definately cold sores... not from it getting on my skin. My glands swell, get the tingle, itch, and then the cold sore appears. Ive read that after use, it lowers ur immune system for a day or so, but it must be very drastic, because I use Lysine, Berrocca, Vit C, eat healthy, and otherwise look after myself and would have rarely got a break out until I started using poppers... now its everytime (which is most weekends) I get a breakout... one is only healed and I get another.... Love poppers tho, and find it hard to not take them but Im going to have to!!! Plus Ive noticed a blurry spot in my left eye vision, and I think thats from them too :!
 
Poppers bringing out the herpes virus is worrying. Some HIV dissident scientists (eg Duisberg) maintain that Aids is caused not by the HIV virus, but by the breakdown of the immune system due to the introduction of foreign substances into the body. One of those foreign substances would be volatile nitrites. Hence (so people like Duisberg) the emergence of Aids in the gay community where poppers were ubiquitous.
 
The correct name is Duesberg (Peter). I found it hard to believe also when he named injected cocaine in one of his interviews (plenty of Duesberg interviews on youtube). Difficult to see how cocaine could weaken the immune system. It can alter sexual behaviour which then leads to infection, but that's another story. Be that as it may, my experience with poppers made me rethink there might be something in Duesberg's (and other AIDS denialists) stories. I only need to sniff some poppers today to have a Herpes simplex surges tomorrow. By the way, you can tell cold sores from other skin conditions in that cold sores appear on one side of the nose, then two days later on the other side: never on both sides at the same time.

That doesn't seem likely... has anyone been huffing from the same bottle? touched the rim maybe? That could transfer herpes.
 
^ There's probably a reason for that, but no way do I buy the AIDS thing. Drugs don't lower T-Cell counts to that level, and even if they did, the counts should bounce back up when you don't use drugs.

And what about people who contracted HIV from blood transfusions?
 
Genital herpes is a disease caused by a virus and it is more common in women than in men. It is so widespread that every one woman out of four women in the United States has it. Genital herpes is most commonly spread by during sexual intercourse and as long as it is transferred it is impossible to recover from it completely. It stays with you all your life. There are times of complications, when herpes is triggered by some external or internal factor, such as stress or weakened immune system.

I always had the same problem with skin burns near nose and cold sore popping up after the use of poppers. But now i learnt that its cause of certain adulterated (impure) poppers and not all. I used Rush, Amsterdam and nothing happened but with other brands even with a one sniff, I get hell of a sores next day. So pure poppers with right brand for you is a 1st step to avoid bad sores around nose.

Also one more solution to prevent touching of bottles to nostrils while sniffing it is applying ointment like Vaseline or oil, or any petroleum jelly which will take the first hit even if it touches / or vapours touches your skin. And no wonders now I can sniff it anytime I want to get euphoric and orgasmic :) and that too without any burns or pain. So apply oily cream to nose n enjoy the high unless your partner wants to lick your nose once high ;)

Hoping this will help poppers lovers somehow.

I really dont think it does anything to your immune system. WBCs are yoour immune system in blood unless u drink poppers theres no way that it will attack WBCs. so No your observations are wrong. Those are not cold sores but the skin burns caused by vapours or actual touch of a liquid on the nose skin.

Easiest solution to all this which works with me is applying oily thing like vaseline, petroleum jelly or any cold cream which will layer up ur skin and then sniff poppers.

Hoping it may help you and others too.
