Coke purchasing etiquette

So a friend of mine met a coke dealer the other day. She has seizures and won't do coke, but knows that I do, and so she let the guy know that "her friend" was interested.

Gonna go visit him next week, but this will be the first time I've scored from someone who's not either a friend/dealer of a friend, or selling on the street/at a party/etc.
Do any Bluelighters have recommendations on what etiquette I should observe? Specifically, am I likely to get ripped off if I attempt to purchase too much, say an 8-ball or two? Is it reasonable to ask to taste or do a line before buying it? What about bringing a friend who would like to get some of his own? I usually trust FOFs or friends' dealers, and am suspicious of and careful around street/party dealers, but this is somewhere in between. Thanks all,

If you buy it already in powder form, it's bound to be cut to hell. The guy I buy from carries around a fairly big chunk of coke and breaks off an appropriate amount when he sells some.

OK, first off how does this friend of yours know this guy does this friend think this dealer is shady. I would not bring your friend along if he wants some have him give you the money. About the tasting you should be able to taste it if your buying it and if your buying more that a 8 ball then he should let you try it. I wouldnt buy more than two though your first time. If he dont want you to try it ask to buy a line or a quarter gram to try it.
Second if your buying a 8 ball it should be in clumps and maybe a little dust at the bottom. Just be your self if you try to act to different then he might not like that. Also im sure you know but dont ever ask anything about where he got it.

Thanks, voager. Yeah, I don't try and put on an act or play around with dealers -- just buy the stuff, chat a little if it seems they want to, avoid anything personal, and leave... unless they are acquaintances that is.
This guy does not seem too sketchy. He bummed a cigarette off my friend and they chatted for a while, then he invited her back to his place to smoke a bowl. His place turns out to be a fucking sweet pad with some expensive-ass cars. Surprise! he's a coke dealer and offered my friend some. I'm sure he was hoping to get a little something in return, but the friend declined (those seizures and all.) If he'd offered her Percs or Vics it probably would've been his lucky day, though. Since he lives nearby and seems to have plenty invested, I imagine he's fairly trustworthy... all it would take is one phone call and he'd be fucked.

It is proper etiquette to sample whatever product you are planning on purchasing, whether it be cocaine, pot, or whatever...however, don't be surprised if the dealer ends up taking that sample out of the bag you're gonna end up buying. If the seller doesn't let you sample it then I would simply go elsewhere; if it's good product then he should have nothing to lose buy letting you try it first.
As for bringing a friend, you should always ask permission from the seller first. It is in EXTREMELY poor taste to bring new people with you unannounced.

Dont bring the friend, dont even mention a friend to the dealer. Ive chilled with coke peeps before, and I have seen them get extremely pissed if someone brought a friend. You probably aint gonna get ripped off either.

Oh yeah, if you are gonna get two eight balls, just ask for a quarter oz, it should come out cheaper and you will get an extra gram.

Yeah.. street dealers who have legit product do NOT get offended when you ask to try a little bit first. They may want to see that you have the cash, though, which is good etiquette on your part. Any street dealer I've ever encountered who is legit has been more than happy to let me taste a product. Infact usually when you ask, they're almost forceful and insistant that you do.
The other night I made a mistake, though. My guys weren't out so I went to a nearby street. Now usually my guys who are hardcore thugs and cuss each other out will always treat me with total respect and be more than nice. This other guy was a dick, but his vials looked right and I figured he was part of their crew. I got ripped off. The stuff was a great ploy, looked EXACTLY like the dope I usually get. This has only ever happened to me twice, once a few years ago. And from what I've heard from others, it's the same thing.
Avoid street dealers who don't treat you like gold. Be yourself. Don't be afraid of offending them to make sure the product is okay. They will understand your situation. If you're more comfortable with them, it's also polite on your part to turn off the engine when you park on the curb. It shows trust and respect. But then again you probably don't want to do this if you aren't used to the area or get a bad vibe. It's also nice if you have your bills straight out and not folded so they can count it quicker.
It's ironic how people view the drug world and what the reality of it actually is.
There is one thing, though. Just in case, keep your doors locked. And make sure they're locked before you get on the street so they don't hear you lock them. That makes you look like a chump. And don't play hip hop music in an effort to show anyone you're "down". It also makes you look like a chump.

I would avoid street dealers in general. You are more likely to get ripped off, killed, robbed, arrested, or some combination of the above.

You are more likely to get killed, ripped off, robbed or arrested? I believe that to be a myth. I live in DC, tons of street dealers around, hell Im friends with a bunch of them. Getting arrested is a small possibility, usually in an area with street dealers, cops have more important things to worry about. Killed, robbed, or ripped off? That shit doesnt happen(at least here), the guys are running a business, these drugs they sell are their sole income. THey want to keep customers happy and coming back, as a result, around here at least, the quality of whatever is usually good, and I have only seen people get jumped a few times. The times people got jumped they tried shortchanging the dealers.

Thanks SC and everyone for the replies. Just to clarify though, this isn't a street dealer -- I have his number, will go to his apartment. It is in a pretty affluent area. I have dealt with dealers on the street before, and have always been plenty suspicious.

Bullshit. It's quite easy to "re-rock" coke (after cutting it with shit) to make it look like it is "purer", and plenty of dealers do this. The best coke I've ever had was pure white and very finely powdered without a single clump. The shittiest coke I've had was one big ole stone-hard yellow rock.
Good coke comes in many forms -- and the best way to know for sure is to do a line/bump as well as taste it...a good dealer, like others have said, will let you do this. If not then he must be hiding something and you should go elsewhere!
I'd say go alone, and don't buy more than an 8ball, just in case. You can always go back and buy more if it is good. Don't commit to buying a certain amount, either, until you've tested it.
