Stimulants Cognitive deficits while on adderall

My experience with adderall has been confusing to say the least. I'm prescribed 20 mg xr, but I hardly ever use it. Whenever I have midterms or huge assignments to do I take one 20 mg xr and redose by crushing around 10-30 mg worth of beads depending on if I redose once or twice. It's usually over a twelve hour span, and I make sure to drink lots of protein shakes with creatine, eat fruit, and as much meat as i can scarf down. I'll take magnesium and dxm the night before, morning of, and night after for tolerance.

Now here's the crux of my problem - sometimes I can dose one 20 mg xr and feel at the top of my game for up to 16 hours, and other times one 20 mg has me sweating bullets pissin myself worried that I broke eye contact too quickly with the person I just walked by. On those shit adderall sessions it hardly seems to depend on the dose, redosing just increases the physical stimulation while occasionally clearing my head up. My linguistic abilities, memory, and focus all seem to be heavily impacted and i'll end up forgetting words, what I was doing if I don't consciously focus, mix words up, and pronounce/spell things incorrectly. Basically I just get caught up in my head too much, and generally feel weak and shaky - not to mention slightly lethargic. Strangely enough I feel the cognitive deficit and generally 'weak' feelings the day or two after as well. I love stimulant sessions where I feel at my prime, ready to tackle anything that comes my way headfirst. Re-dosing on those days leads to euphoria and progressive over-stimulation, but I never get to that point where i'm a jittery forgetful mess.

I supplement piracetam at night and aniracetam in the morning, and that has improved my memory substantially. This disappears on shitty adderall days, while conversely is magnified on the better adderall days. Can anyone give me some insight into what the hell is happening with my use? Its like i'm taking two completely different drugs sometimes. Am I doing something incorrectly, should I be supplementing something? Or should I look into other stimulants for studying?

For reference I use adderall in short bursts. Like this week I did it three times, once monday/tuesday/today, and the last time I used before that was in the first week of september. I slept 4 hours monday, 6-6.5 hours tuesday, and 9 hours last night. I used to abuse 3-4 months ago, and stopped for a while after a horrible experience with 120 mg xr.

Well, personally, with Adderall XR, I can relate to an extent - that some days it seems to do next to nothing, and other days it seems to give me a good boost of energy and drive with nice mood-lift, too. I do take it daily, though. I think what is going on with you is that, because amphetamines allow us to feel more, you might get "stuck" so to speak in a certain feeling/mindset, if that makes sense. Also, some days we have more energy, naturally than others - good days and bad days, they exist. I think, too, you are trying a bit too hard with the food while on amphetamines, and what is TRULY important is water to keep well hydrated, especially if you only use amphetamines every now and again. I am not saying don't eat, but amphetamines tend to be better absorbed on an empty stomach, and I feel that eating can, sometimes, take away a bit from the effects of the Adderall XR, even if I am past the point of where absorbtion would matter much. But, Adderall XR is a bimodal release system, with half the drug being released immediately and half a few hours later, but the absorbtion of both the immediate and delayed-released drug do vary based on stomach contents and such. I would eat, as it seems important to you to do so, but eat light even if with dense proteins. Really, though, keep hydrated. Dehydration alone can make one feel like shit. And, I am going to reiterate that amphetamines allow us to feel more, and focus our energy better (at relatively lower doses), and thus can "exaggerate" how one feels to begin with, or how one feels about something that would otherwise not cause much feeling during the amphetamines' effects. If I had to say two things, concentrate on drinking a lot of water, AND try to put yourself in a good mindset. Hope this helps.

I think this can be said with most drugs. I can smoke weed and feel relaxed and fine; other times I may have a full blown panic attack....

I too take Adderall, as you do, a few times a month max, and it's definitely a hit or miss.... I don't know why, but definitely can relate; as with any drug.

i never freaked out with adderall, although with coke i used to get really odd reactions to doses that i was perfectly used to taking. and on meth its pretty much like that all the time if i dose anything higher than 70mgs ( i have a tolerance; to get a noticably strong high i need a point)
with meth i am so stimulated that i cant speak coherently cause my thoughts are too fast to comply with the laws of physics, and my physical coordination is fucked too, for the same reason.
honestly, if ur taking the same doses and you dont take it regularly, than theres something unique to your body or brain that sometimes causes overstimulation.
