Cognitive decline through drugs?

^ Not to mention, some people function better splurging every once in a while. Others like to fully resist the temptation to give themselves more pride to stay sober and addiction free.

I'm starting to get to a point where I realize why drugs are illegal (and perhaps why alcohol should be monitored more closely). If done any more than on a *very* sparse basis, they can be very damaging to the brain, typically resulting in lowered inhibition ("I wouldn't have done that sober"), lowered ability to function fully (the "dumb" feeling) and maybe even lowered physical abilities.

They're fun, but I wish more people could resist addiction. I enjoy speaking with intelligent, wise individuals (as I'm sure others do also).

^ Agreed, sad it took me quite a while to realize the fact though. It's been almost a year since my last methcat / opio binge, still feeling not-so-smart and experiencing lack of motivation. It's frustrating, as I often have problems performing the most simple tasks, sending e-mails, looking for an airplane ticket etc. not to mention more "ambitious" ones like rewriting my cv or studying. I can sense it gets better as the time passes by (especially since I started exercising a lot), or I'm just fooling myself into thinking that. I really hope my motivation will come back someday. I feel awful that I fucked my own brain up.
