add booze. totally worked.
If you can evaporate it and deal with the powder you might be better off.
My chemist advice is...don't do that. Always store your chemicals in a powder form. So let's review what has been said:
Q: Should I store my home made codeine as a solution?
A: NO! Even if your water is ultra pure under 5 ppm, you'll still have chemistry going on in solution that wouldn't occur in a dry powder.
Q: Should I evaporate the liquid and keep the codeine powder?
A: NO! Besides the fact that you won't be able to, unless you have lots of time on your hands or a rotatory vacuum evaporator, you won't know the composition of your powder.
You are basically taking an ultra-pure, industrially dosed powder and turn it into a yellowish gunk of unknown composition. Bad idea.
pure codeine powder? seeing your supposedly you're a pharmacist you know this is near impossible for the every day joe who like to use codeine on the ocassion. not unless you're prescribed the pure codeine tablets.
i'm sorry buy you can store it is as a liquid as long as there is a presertive such as an alcohol in there this will prevent any bacteria growth. it has to be kept in a cool place (fridge) and kept air tight.
won't be able to? many people have CWE the codeine and evapourated the solution to form a mostly pure codeine product containing trace amount of apap pr ibuprofen or whatever nsaid it is formulated with. it's not a hard process like you're making out.
lol, ultra pure? i think you just mean pure. codeine is one of the less potent opiates available. and i don't know where you're pulling this yellow gunk from? not unless the tablets had a yellow dye.
Pure? You guys can only isolate 95% of the tylenol at best...yields are better with aspirin and ibuprofen but it won't be pure...and how do you know some of the binding agent doesn't end up in the final product?
You previously stated that the codeine powder you isolate at home was pure...since when a codeine powder containing 5000ppm tylenol/ibuprofen/aspirin contaminant is pure? Put otherwise, if that's pure, than how is the original pharmacy Tylenol product that has less than 50 ppm contaminants?
You do what you want...idc I just wouldn't do that that's all.
