I wasn't sure whether or not to post here or healthy living but this forum seems to be more opiate oriented so might get a better response here. I have a few packets of codeine 30mg paracetomal 500mg, Is 30mg a good dose for IBS/diarrhea? I was also thinking about CWE because I don't want the paracetomol. I don't want to get high, I just want some relief, any advice would be appreciated!

I just read that 5mg - 30mg is a good dose for diarrhea, would it be a good idea to do a CWE and leave it in the fridge and just 30mg throughtout the day? Or would the 30mg be sufficient?

This is chronic diarrhea by the way, so don't tellem to eat apple sauce or drink lots of water :p

30mg is a pretty low dose that I know. I guess it would be better than nothing, but if your not looking to get high and just want relief for IBS, I'd say lopermide/Immodium would be a lot better, just my opinion.

I have only just realised what I am suffering from is IBS as no test have shown up positive for anything, I was going to see if codeine helps so I can indentify whether this actually is that cause because it is said to help relieve the symptoms and help the GI tract.

Are lopermide/Immodium something that can be bought without prescription? (In Australia btw)

Also I have read there is an importance in regards to the amount of water to the amount of tablets, how much water would I need to use for 1 tablet of Codeine30mg Paracetamol500mg? I realise that it seems like an effort to do this but I do not want any paracetamol.

I am high and drunk at the moment so not much help. I have had ulcertive colitus for almost 6 years and would like to help with my experiences and incite on painkiller and other drug related relief I have found. PM me back if you would like to talk, gl if not

Codeine would work, but if you have chronic IBS, you'll eventually get addicted. Like other posters have said, lopermide is the safer and more effective option. You should maybe take a look at your diet (Esp. wheat allergies) and you may be able to nip it in the bud right there. Good luck.

It will work. There is a doctor in my area that a family member goes to that prescribes percocet 5mg for chronic diarrhea/IBS.

Just keep your doses low, 5-10mg once or twice a day should work well.

No offense to the posters who suggested Immodium, but if you have serious IBS/Crohn's/Colitis, that shit is a joke. I'm prescribed Percocet, and it's the only thing that stops the diarrhea on cue. There have been numerous times where I've taken Immodium and half an hour later -- boom! If it works for you, that's great, but be prepared to be let down. I sure was.

I too have suffered from IBS and lopermide worked fine. Having said that, I was not an opiate addict at the time. Since I have been addicted to opiates and then put on bupe, I no longer have IBS symptoms for obvious reasons. Yes, opiates will slow down your intestines (bec. you have opiate receptors in the intestines) but I'm not sure 5mg of Percocet should be used just for diarrhea. Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's Disease can be extremely painful, thus opioids are often indicated with such disorders. Hopefully, that has cleared up what I meant in my first post.

basically loperamide is a potent opiate. but for some reason it cannot pass the blood brain-barrier. So basically you get the physical benefits/releif from the trotters etc but no hit from it.

Handy when withdrawling.

Its cheap enough at Tesco/Asda they have generics half the price of Immodium but exactly the same strength.
