Codeine and SSRIs

Some drugs also interfere with cyp2d6. Prime among these are the SSRIs, with the exception of Zoloft (if I remember correctly). The most potent inhibitor is paroxetine (paxil), followed by fluoxetine (prozac). If you are taking an SSRI, you will probably experience a markedly decreased euphoria when using codeine. (Paxil has a half life of only 24hrs, so not taking it for a few days will do miracles; the half life of prozac is 7 days.)
I know that SSRIs (aropax, paxil, paroxetine) lesses the effects of codeine. Does anyone have any personal experience with this combo? How much are the effects reduced? Is the combo dangerous?

I was taking 40 mg prozac for two months, during which time I took codeine a few times for pain, and found that it worked exactly as well as it always did...so, IMO, if indeed the SSRIs really block any effects of the codeine, they do so very minimally (i.e. not even noticeably).

You're not likely to notice any real decrease in the effects... then again, codeine isnt much to begin with.. but trust me, I was on SSRI meds for several months and durring that time I fully (ab)used a wide range of narcotics, codeine and other 'low-level, sissy baby girl pain killers' .. I wouldn't say the SSRI really detracted that much from the narcotics - though it did make my life shitty overall!
