Why is this? I really really want to know as it happens to me sometimes![]()
I believe he was talking about opioid tolerance in that post; getting basically nothing out of the dose anymore but still using because in your mind, you can't relax without the drug.
Pinkanga said:So true. So often a codeine session just does not work at all. No associated euphoria or just anything that you'd expect from an opiate, but I still find value in it because I force myself to sit, relax and still my mind and enjoy the codeine. And thats where the psychological addiction can come into it because you feel you need the codeine to be able to properly relax and still the mind.
Its about being strong and figuring out what works for you.
I was having a conversation about this exact thing yesterday, but on a more personal level I suppose. For years codeine or other opioids have been my go-to-tool for dealing with stress, depression, anxiety, traumatic events and that plus benzodiazepine use I feel has severely impacted my ability to deal with these things properly now. Which just leads to the 'need' to use the crutch again... it's a cliche, but it really, truly is a cycle that you get caught in.
