Cocaine Question

Why does cocaine make ones throat feel like it is swelling up? Is it due to the numbing properties it posseses?

I don't think Ive ever felt like my throat was swelling while doing coke, but if it does, I imagine its just because of the numbing effect, it would have to be, since your throat shouldn't actually be swelling.

All right, thanks... this is the first time that this has happened to me, so I'm assuming its from the large line that i did, which was about 1/4 or 15 of a gram. Any more input would be appreciated, thanks.

Your throat has gone numb which makes it feel difficult to swallow. Possibly due to a cutting agent. If you were having some type of an allergic reaction the itching would come before the closing off of the airway.

Well local anastethics like novacaine can produce the feeling of swelling in the mouth region (possibly other areas as well but I don't know). This is just a side effect of the anastesis.
As cocaine is a strong local anastethic if you are snorting it and getting it on your throat this would not be surprising.

I have this friend who threw up the first time he did coke. He has this crazy gag reflex and freaked out a bit when he interpreted the numbing in his throat as a closing off of his airway.

A friend and I had some coke on Thursday night, and even thought I have done it a few times, this was the first time that I felt my throat go numb. I also thought it felt like it was closing. It was a strange feeling but at least it was good stuff.

Cocaine is (from my limited knowledge) often cut with Novacaine or Lidocaine. That might be why.

The naseau might have nothing to do with the throat effects. All stimulants (regardless of their means of ingestion) can unsettle the stomach. E, meth, and coke all make me feel slightly uneasy and I have thrown up on both e and meth

I on't know ANYONE that uses either ofthose to cut cocaine.. hell, they are probably more expensive then the cut itself.. it's not like you can buy either of those OTC .. besides, there are cuts you can buy that will numb you BETTER then coke (sold as "inscense" in the ghetto, one ounce for $20 - no idea what it is)

No, he wasn't actually naseous. It wasn't a stomach issue at all. Just a psychological throat anxiety issue manifesting itself in the emptying of stomach contents.
