Reading a few threads here for the first time....

Any of you depressed types try chewing coca?

From allI I can gather its relatively harmless and helps with a good outlook.

Mildly stimulating so it may help get an exercise programme together.

May help you break away from whatever is hurting you.

I don't think stimulants are the best way to regulate mood. Maybe it can provide some immediate energy and motivation, but it won't change what is causing the depression in the first place.

If being used to replace other more harmful substances then I can see how it would maybe be helpful from a harm reduction perspective.

When I was in Bolivia I bought a 'poo ton' of coca, for altitude sickness, tea, chewing... etc. Bottom line - they did nothing for me except quench altitude sickness.

@ Cyc : I don't recall having an issue with the taste. In my opinion, kratom - competely opposite side of the spectrum - was way worse.

Also, I didn't really find chewing the leaves stimulating 'at all'. Certainly not enough to create any sort of exercise program and ESPECIALLY if you are already depressed and unmotivated.

Are you against conventional depression treatments? Or even homeopathic sorts. There are lots of options out there...

yeah its technically classified as a stimulant, which therefore is NOT good for regulating mood. I attempted this while abusing amphetamines, thinking it was a great cure. in the end it made me crazier, unable to handle situations, and a super angry person. plus the tolerance for the energy it "gives you" goes up soo fast its not even really worth it for energy and motivation. amphetamines and coca are in a huge range difference, but I think it gets the point across. also you can have mild withdrawals from it if you use it enough.

plus it doesnt taste very good at all.
