In my mind. The choices are many, the consequences
So, I'd like some personal experiences from these two drugs. My daughter was taken off of Respirol (sp) and Effexor XR and put on these two drugs. We've noticed a new side effect or nervous thing she does now where she is constantly snorting. She sees the dr Monday so I can ask him about this but I would like to hear some personal experiences as I have never had either of the two pills. Thanks :)

Snorting like because of a runny nose? Why was she put on the old medications in the first place and for what reason was the regime changed?

Clonidine is an antihypertensive drug and Bupropion is an antidepressant.

Bupropion is known to very slightly increase heart rate and blood pressure. This may have been why Clonidine was prescribed but I can't be sure.

Clonidine is also prescribed off label for opioid withrdawal, alcohol withdrawal, nicotine withdrawal, ADHD, insomnia and a couple of other conditions.

I'm on Wellbutrin... it gave me a little stimulating energy but it increased my anxiety and nervousness substantially. I don't know if it's because of the Wellbutrin or not, but whenever I'm nervous around people it seems I tend to scratch myself (esp. my legs) a lot... like they're itchy, to the point where there's lots of scabs on my legs. Mabye the snorting could be from the increase of nervousness from Wellbutrin, as it's increased my anxiety quite a bit (hence why I'm looking to get off it).

Clonidine can also be perscribed for RLS and my PM doc said he had used it on other patients for axiety relief/as a mild relaxant which I assume comes from the fact that it would lower blood pressure? Could be wrong though.

No, she just starts snorting and breathing weird like she's having a nervous issue. It comes and goes. I called the pharmacist and they said they've never heard of this as a side effect and an allergic reaction wouldn't go away like hers goes and comes.

The dr didn't feel the Respirdal (sp) was doing anything and the Effexor XR wasn't working so he switched her to these new drugs. To be honest I think the dr is just shooting in the dark and hoping to find the right combo.

She's been diagnosed ADHD, then PTSD, then bi-polar, now we're back to possible ADHD. Like I said, I think he's shooting in the dark hoping to find the right combo.
