hi..i am on clonazepam tapper.its bn almost 11mnths nw.before i was having 0.5 in d mrng 0.5 at nyt.i hv tappered d dosage vry slowly.ryt nw i am on 0.25 which i take at nyt.its bn almost 1mnth i m on dis dose.bt nw its very difficult to handle.i m hvng withdrals.memory loss,pukish feeling and feelings of seizures nd weakness.pls advise me hw to proceed further..thnx
 
Imo... You should stay on 0.25 until you start feeling better. When you get to a point where you feel normal on 0.25, taper to 0.125 if you can, or dose EOD, or come off completely.

Hi jaideep, you don't say if this tapper is being managed by a doctor ? form the information you posted it seems like you have reduced slowly and Clonaz has a reasonably long half life so is suited to the process.

I wonder if some of your symptoms are psychological, the rebound anxiety from benzo withdrawal along with whatever problems you had that led to the use of the drug in the first place are a potent mix IME.

It seem unlikely you would have a seizure given your current dose and tapper schedule, but consulting a doctor would still seem a good idea.

I would recommend Valrian root to help with the insomnia and agitation, I'm not big on herbal treatments but have found this one quite effective.

hi.thnx for ur reply..i knw d dose i m on it shudnt b dat bad which it is ryt nw.my doc has also told me dis.i hv got al my tests dn.al blood tests nd evn mri of head which al r normal.one of my frnd who is a doc told me to start a med which is ssri called sertraline which he told vil mk ur withdrawls easy.i jst had one tab of sertraline 5 mg which made things worse nd increased my withdrawls.d doc of myn told me nt to hv ny med vid d dose i m on.he told me to carry on dis dose for sm more tym til i get comfortable on dis dose.plz rplyyy...thnxxx
 
The first 2 weeks of taking an SSRI can be very uncomfortable, some people ( like myself ) find them very unpleasant.

I've tried several SSRIs including Sertraline and all of them gave intolerable side effects within the first few days ranging from throwing up constantly to hallucination.

I would have to question why a doctor would prescribe them solely for the purpose of withdrawing form Benzos, they act on a completely different part of your brain chemistry, do you have a history of acute depression ?
 
You can't usually feel anything from a single dose of an ssri, it takes weeks.
Sertraline is very likely to make your insomnia worse. Why not try a tricyclic ? They will help with the anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Ask your doctor first though.
 
hi..no i dnt hv any history of depression.i m jst 38 yrs old.let me tel u smthng in detail.i ws on libotryp before for 5 yrs i had tht med which has chlorodiopoxide nd amytryptiline.during my fifth yr i ws vry uncomfortable.my doc who is also a frnd of myn told me tht i dnt need ny med.dn he started d tappering.he put me on 0.5 clonazepam in d mrng nd 0.5 at nyt nd also amytriptiline.nw aftr 10mnths i hv cm on 0.25 dose.he said nt to tk ny ssri or nythng vid dis dose.nd told me to tapper it vry slowly.it may tk mnths.bt nw i m hvng wd problems.so jst wntd ur help tht am i on d ryt track

I wouldn’t start taking any other benzodiazepines, in essence they all work in pretty much the same way, it would be like adding in vodka whilst trying to cut down your intake of brandy.

I believe 0.5mg of Clonazepam is about the equivalent of 10mg of Diazempam, the .25mg a day dose isn’t huge by any measure, you're on the home straight, hang on in their and don't start self medicating.
 
thnx friend for ur rply.my doc also told me d same thing.tht nt to add ny otr med.he said d dose i m taking i shud carry on for anotr mnth or two nd reduce clonazepam by 1/4th vnevr i get used to dis dose.thnf for ur help.may jesus bless u nd ur family

Anxiety is a complex condition, it has many possible symptoms and I would go so far as to say in itself is just an umbrella term used to cover a wide range of mental health problems.

I assume you started taking the Clonaz to treat problems you have with some form of anxiety, unfortuntely withdrawal from these drugs can cause trigger anxiety and a hots of other unwanted symptoms. This would be in addition to any underlying problem that you still have, these drugs are no cure they merley provide relief from soem of the symptoms.

You need to have trust in your doctor, people here can only point you towards information ( which they have ) it would not be sensible to take direct advice from random people on an internet forum on a medical issue such as this.
