Hi

Read about clonazepam on Google but wanted some first hand advice from people that who have taken it. I'm thinking about getting some but just wanted to know what its effects are like are they more of a night time Benz that's only going to be good for getting me to sleep? Or is it less sedating and OK to take when stressed at work? I read its got a long half life, the reason I don't like Valium is cuz I can't get out of bed in the morning cuz I still got the val in my system will it be the same with clonazepam also one last question lol do people call these K pins?

Thanks for any advice

I'm not a huge fan of clonazepam but yea it has a long half life and they say 2mg of clonazepam equals to about 40mg diazepam and yes slang is k-pins for Klonopin.

The brand name is klonopin...k-pins: simple explanation.
beyond that...I definitely do not find clonazapam sedating at all..
this is one of those trial and error deals...what works best for you..can only be found
by you.
I would say if you're not looking for sedation, go for ativan...if you're looking for short lived sedation, go with alprazolam.
i can't believe you don't like valium...shakes her head in disgust...

Hey! I have a solution for that! Just never go to bed! (for sleep.)
Then you mustn't get out. ;)

Klonopin is a very good benzo, all around. It does have a long half-life and long duration of action. As mentioned, 10 mg Valium = 0.5 mg Klonopin as most charts say, but all charts vary. However, this is generally agreed upon as an equipotent dose. Klonopin can be used at work if you need it to for stress as you said, but can be used to help with sleep, too. Klonopin takes a bit longer than most benzos to "kick in", and its effects last longer than what one can usually feel. In fact, it is, in general, a rather subtle benzo while remaining very effective at helping with anxiety/panic, and remaining quite potent. You want to be careful not to dose too much because you may feel you haven't taken enough, when really you have. This is the case with all benzos, but with Klonopin a little extra warning should be given considering like I said it can be decievingly subtle. It generally is not reported to be as sedating or sleepy as Valium, but has good muscle relaxant properties. IMO it is a good benzo for therapeutic and recreational purposes, just be careful.

The only benzos I've used are Diazepam (Valium) and Clonazepam (believe it's known as klonopin in USA I'm in UK).

I found low doses of Diazepam had no effect on me, high doses left me relaxed - not sedated - and rather euphoric. I also found no noticeable next day hangover other than tiredness which I put down to trouble sleeping because I was so euphoric!

On low doses of Clonazepam I get reduced anxiety and my thoughts slow down - I have bipolar and suffer distracting racing thoughts when hypomanic edging towards full blown mania. I notice no sedation and am able to go about day to day activities. Higher doses, relax me, empty my mind, sedate me and enable me to drift off to sleep. Not too difficult to wake up with the alarm clock and doesn't make me feel like shit through the day. At another slightly higher dose it knocks me right out, as in I remember taking tablets, lying down and boom - I'm being yelled at to get up, feel not to dissimilar to hungover and feel tired all day.

Obviously Diazepam affects you a little different from me, so maybe clonazepam would have different effects on you than it does on me.

I personally find clonazepam great for what it is prescribed for - anxiety/racing thoughts. I only use to aid sleep when desperate for some sleep and am out of my prescribed Zopiclone - which I also only use when desperate as I don't want to develop tolerance to either or get addicted - benzo withdrawals don't seem pleasant! But I am sure you're aware of all that so won't lecture.

If you are after something to get you to sleep I'd go with Zopiclone, it makes me sleep through the night, wake up refreshed - only downside it leaves me with a disgusting taste in my mouth following day. I believe it has same tolerance and dependance issues as benzos, though I'm not 100%. I've read mixed opinions on this.

If Zopiclone is not available in your part of the world then I think there I Ezopiclone? Which I believe is the active steriomiser in Zopiclone.

I know there are other things out there that could also be worth a try but these are the only things I've tried in benzos/hypnotics so couldn't comment on anything else.

Hope you find something that works for you :)
